Gonzo: The once-famous "male teacher" of Vietnamese Rap, teaching in the morning, rapping in the evening

Gonzo is one of the famous male rappers of the Vietnamese entertainment industry. He is loved and admired by a large number of young music lovers in the North. The male rapper is also nicknamed "Teacher Nam" when he teaches and raps at night.

Gonzo ( RPT Gonzo), real name is Nguyen Tran Thai Nam, born in 1995 in Hanoi. Gonzo once shared, since he was a child, he was exposed to LK's first Rap songs. Growing up, he was a Rock fan, Linkin Park became his favorite group. This is a group that plays Nu Metal - a genre that combines Rock with Rap/Hip-hop.

Going to university, Gonzo gradually came into contact with the Rap songs of DSK, Den Vau, Da LAB... DSK is a legend that makes the male rapper extremely respectful, and at the same time influenced by Den Vau through the way he brings rustic aftertastes in life into Rap lyrics.

In the list of contestants with respectable education of Vietnamese Rap, the name Gonzo is indispensable. Graduating from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Hanoi National University, the rapper who is familiar with the street rap world stepped on the podium as an English teacher. At the same time, Gonzo is also a rap teacher for many young rappers, and his most prominent student is Tage - a hot boy rapper friend of the Suboi team.

With a passion for music since childhood, Gonzo officially pursued his dream when he reached high school. He chose hip-hop and rap music to pursue. Taking the stage name Gonzo, which means abnormal, the audience always sees him with a special appearance like no other.

Rapital (formerly V69) was founded in 2018, is one of many rap groups that have made a mark in the underground community in the North. In Rapital, Gonzo not only manages and coordinates the group's activities, he is also the one who leads his members on the path of pursuing rap music. In August 2020, RPT Gonzo enrolled in the first season of the Vietnamese Rap contest. With the hit song Katy Katy after being refreshed, Gonzo was successfully chosen by coach Binz. His eye-catching performance made the hall lively. The two judges, Rhymastic and Suboi, were so engrossed in watching that they forgot to press the select button.

During the Breakthrough round, Gonzo's followers were stunned by the meticulously elaborated contest from music to lyrics. In this round, Gonzo used his ability to write lyrics and play the flow of old-school beats perfectly from music director Touliver, bringing the rap "No Teacher Quiz You Do" and receiving 5/6 votes, which was the highest rate of the first season. Even MC Tran Thanh had to call Gonzo "the master of calm".

Judge Rhymastic had to exclaim: "I once commented that you were the best lyricist on the Binz team. And today, I give you a compliment. I am one of the best lyric writers on this show."

Despite possessing a respectable rap level and extensive knowledge, Gonzo always maintains a gentle attitude and a moderate and calm manner with the judges, coaches, MC and all contestants in the contest. Therefore, it is not surprising that the image of Mr. Nam on the stage of the Breakthrough round convinced everyone present on the stage to watch live, as well as the TV audience.

Although he only stopped at the top 8, the name Gonzo was always loved by the audience. He is still pursuing his artistic path and striving to become an official member of SpaceSpeaker.

16 Typh and Gonzo became exclusive artists for SpaceSpeaker. The two were members of the Binz team in the first season of Rap Viet. Appearing with the veteran seniors of the SS family, both male artists officially started a new journey for themselves.

In 2023, MV Dear is GONZO's official debut product after 3 years of journey to join SpaceSpeakers Label. This is the first work released within the framework of GONZO's Lyrical Story EP. The male rapper received valuable support from singer Le Hieu, who played an important role by singing the hook, along with the contribution of producer Slim V, who did the mixing work for the product.

The MV Dear not only marked an important turning point in GONZO's career, but also officially put him in the position of exclusive artist at SpaceSpeakers Label. This means that GONZO has officially entered the music market as a professional solo rapper and is ready to conquer the audience.

When asked about SpaceSpeakers and the organization's stature, GONZO was quick to answer. The rapper described SpaceSpeakers as an organization "between two worlds," not underground but not yet fully mainstream.

In GONZO's words: "SpaceSpeakers exists at the intersection of the worlds of hip-hop, rap and mass fandom. This can bring a lot of good, but there is also no shortage of haters from both sides."
