Chen, Baekhyun , and Xiumin suddenly spoke up to accuse SM of arbitrarily removing them from EXO 's new activities, causing fans to be excited and worried. SM immediately responded with shocking information, causing a stir in the fan community.
On the afternoon of October 29, the management company INB100, representing the three idols Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin (abbreviated as CBX), officially announced that the group CBX was removed from EXO's upcoming comeback plan by SM Entertainment. This announcement includes both album releases and group promotions, surprising fans.
According to information from INB100, after CBX sued SM to terminate the contract in June 2023, on July 9, 2025, the two sides reached an initial agreement. Both sides discussed the direction and goals for EXO's full group activities in the future.
Following the second mediation session on October 2, CBX clearly expressed their intention to reach an agreement and accepted all the conditions set by SM, hoping that EXO could return with a complete 8-member lineup by the end of the year. Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin themselves also adjusted their personal schedules to prioritize EXO's group activities in December, demonstrating their seriousness and commitment to fans.
However, while waiting for SM's response, CBX suddenly received information that the company held a fan-meeting and released an album for EXO without their participation. Instead, SM announced the participation of a Chinese member who had left the company - Lay (Zhang Yixing). This made CBX members express deep disappointment.
Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin said they chose the path of settlement because they valued the sincerity of their fans more than anything else, and had always wanted to fully participate in EXO's promotional activities. However, SM's decision made them feel like they were suddenly removed, without any prior notice.
In response to this information, on the same evening, SM Entertainment officially responded to CBX and INB100. SM affirmed: "We have made it clear to CBX that the termination of the contract dispute and group activities are two separate issues. Up to now, we have won all disputes with CBX. Our only request is that they pay 10% of the revenue from individual activities according to the agreement effective from June 18, 2023, but this has not been done."
SM went on to state that the long-standing dispute had damaged the trust between the two parties and negatively affected EXO and their fans. Therefore, they requested that CBX first comply with the agreement and make sincere efforts to restore the lost trust.
In particular, SM denied the information that CBX had accepted all the conditions after the second mediation session on October 2. The company's statement stated: "The three members' assertion that they agreed to all the conditions is false. In fact, they filed an objection on October 16."
Finally, SM Entertainment concluded, "We will wholeheartedly support and do our best for EXO's activities this December." This message shows that the company is still focused on preparing for EXO's current lineup, even though the tension with CBX has not been completely resolved.
