Duong Tra Giang: New Miss Student Vietnam, "mic-swallowing" behavior, top-notch education

Duong Tra Giang is the hottest name on social networks these past few days, when she excelled over many competitors to win the highest title at the Miss Student Vietnam 2024 contest. The 19-year-old female student received a total prize value of more than 11 billion VND.

On the evening of December 15, the final round of Miss Student Vietnam found the owner of the crown, Duong Tra Giang. Through the performances of Ao Dai, swimsuit, and evening gown, the Top 5 finalists were named as Miss Duong Tra Giang from the University of Business and Management - Vietnam National University, Hanoi; 1st Runner-up Dinh Ngan Ha from the Foreign Trade University, Hanoi; 2nd Runner-up Truong Thi Ngoc Lan from Thang Long University; The joint 3rd Runner-up title was Tran Thanh Truc and Nguyen Linh Chi, both from the University of Foreign Languages - Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

The new beauty queen received a total value of 11.45 billion VND including cash and gifts. She was born in 2005, is a student majoring in marketing and communication, School of Business Administration, Hanoi National University. The beauty is 1.7 m tall, with measurements of 86-60-91 cm. She won second prize for excellent MC in 2017 Hoan Kiem district, and actively participates in charity and social activities. The beauty queen's dream is to become an editor for Vietnam Television.

In the behavioral round, Duong Tra Giang received a lottery with paintings on the theme of Human Life. Very confidently, she answered in two languages: "These 5 paintings are from talented Vietnamese artists, depicting the common point that the beauty of Vietnamese women lies in different ages...

Ladies and gentlemen, time is infinite but human life is limited and very short, so 'living life to the fullest, living every sincere moment', living without wasting is my philosophy of life and most especially, participating in the Miss Student Vietnam 2024 contest is probably the best decision for me.

Right now, when I can stand in the Top 5, I can share with you about my life perspective, about my journey, not only changing my appearance and knowledge but also making myself more mature and better every day and I want to tell you that: It doesn't matter what stage of life you are living in because every stage is important, but we should live with everything we have, live meaningfully, sincerely and hope that this moment is also the most memorable moment for you".

Duong Tra Giang's response was considered "top notch", worthy of being called a mic-swallower. Beauty fans even said that, with such a difficult response question, Duong Tra Giang handled it more neatly than many beauty queens in other major competitions.

At the time of registering for the Miss Student Vietnam contest (February 2024), Tra Giang was 1m70 tall, weighed more than 60 kg and was commented as not meeting the beauty queen standards. This statement became the motivation for the Gen Z female student to be determined to lose weight. It is known that by the preliminary round, Tra Giang had reduced to 50 kg.

"Every day I go to the gym, jog, catwalk and do cardio for 30 minutes to an hour. Regarding diet, when I lost weight from 62 kg to 57 kg, I still ate normally but in smaller quantities. From 57 kg down, every day I only ate vermicelli for breakfast to maintain energy and at 4 pm I ate another slice of bread and a little meat," the new Miss Student Vietnam shared about her strict weight loss diet.

Many people commented that the beauty queen's facial features resemble actress Jun Vu and the character Ha Lan in the movie Mat Biec. She also often renews herself with many different fashion styles.

Tra Giang came to the Miss Student Vietnam contest quite by chance, through the introduction of a friend. She determined that her purpose in coming to the contest was to pursue a career as an MC and see if she had a talent for the entertainment industry.

"My parents always wanted me to participate in beauty pageants, but when they found out that their daughter was participating in a large-scale contest, they advised me to stop because they were afraid that my daughter would have a hard time. However, I still decided to go all the way and did not want to give up halfway," the new beauty queen confided.

Previously, the beauty queen was forced to postpone her military training because the time Tra Giang participated in the competition coincided with her military training at school. The female student said that postponing her military training made her regretful, but there will still be many opportunities to participate in the future.

"My friends who went to military school all regretted that I didn't join them. At that time, I thought that deciding to join the military course would make me regret stopping too early in the competition. Who knows, if I continued to join, I might make it to the top," she said.

Tra Giang revealed that she really loves MC Thanh Thanh Huyen and idolizes runner-up Phuong Nga. In the future, the female student hopes to build an image and career like her seniors.
