During his 2 months in detention, Sean " Diddy" Combs did not settle down and continued to do all kinds of things to get out on bail. Recently, the male rapper was also said to be extremely upset because some confidential documents were confiscated.
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Marc Agnifilo - Diddy's representative attorney - announced on the evening of November 15 that he discovered that prosecutors were holding confidential documents between him and his client that were seized from the 54-year-old rapper's cell at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn.
Agnifilo claims the files, which include handwritten notes from the rap mogul to his legal team regarding witnesses and defense strategy for the upcoming trial, are privileged. The federal government has admitted to possessing the notes seized from Diddy's cell, he says, and the search and seizure violates his client's Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Amendment rights.
Furthermore, the legal team also asserted that the federal government secretly turned over all the documents to prosecutors - who the 54-year-old rapper believes could have used them in legal filings to further detain the Bad Boy Entertainment founder.
"Diddy is demanding an immediate hearing to clarify the matter. He wants the federal government to answer who authorized the search of the cell, who decided to take these documents, who decided to turn these documents over to the U.S. Attorney's Office and prosecutors, and who ultimately decided not to tell Diddy about the seizure," TMZ said.
Furthermore, in the documents submitted to the court, lawyer Agnifilo did not hesitate to criticize the federal government, saying that the search and seizure was "an unreasonable act of the government, a serious violation of procedural law". In response to this, the federal government has yet to respond.
Meanwhile, prosecutors quickly filed legal documents to justify the raid, denying that they confiscated Diddy's documents. "They just touched it from the outside to see if there was any contraband, and felt nothing, so they put it aside, didn't open it or take pictures of it," TMZ's source revealed.
As for the notebook and address book, prison staff reportedly just took pictures of the items and left them on the rapper's bed. No physical documents were confiscated. According to the US Attorney's Office, the raid was planned long before the rapper was arrested and was not targeted at him or any other inmates. They said it was to ensure the safety and security of staff and inmates.
Prosecutors previously accused Diddy of attempting to evade law enforcement surveillance and tamper with witness testimony while in custody. The rapper allegedly paid money to gain access to other inmates' phones.
In addition, he used an unauthorized communication system called ContactMeASAP to text with multiple individuals, including lawyers and people not on his contact list, or to make three-way calls to conceal the identity of the person being contacted.
Diddy is also accused of directing family members to organize media campaigns to change public perception and influence juries in criminal proceedings. More deeply, the rapper also intended to direct the silencing of victims and witnesses, to silence them or provide favorable testimony.
Page Six reached out to the rap mogul's representatives for comment on the allegations, but has yet to receive a response. He has previously applied for bail three times, but the court has denied each time. The case is getting more and more complicated. Experts say this will continue until the 54-year-old rapper appears in court in May 2025.
