This extremely hot reality show filming location is a topic of great interest to the audience.
Although it has come to an end, the latest Netflix reality show "Singles Inferno" has not cooled down. Like the Western " Love Island", the show is about a group of single Koreans looking for love.
The difference between the many dating shows around the world is that the contestants of "Singles Inferno" are sent to a remote island, far from civilization. They were provided with essentials like electricity, clean water and food but that was just the basics.
In the digital age, young people are too familiar with modern amenities, machines and support tools. When brought to the island of hell, the group of players fell into a state of "stunner" when there was no air conditioning, despite the very hot weather.
When they want to have water to drink, they have to use buckets to carry water, move to a far away place to bring water back. Kitchen tools are also not familiar automatic cookers, players must cook with a traditional deep cast iron pot.
Even meals are not provided, boys and girls have to cook by themselves with the meager ingredients provided. Even during their first meal on the island, the program didn't even provide meat for the players, causing the male members to joke that they would lose all their muscle due to lack of protein.
As expected, netizens wanted to know where this remote island is located because the production staff and Netflix did not give any information about the location. Many netizens quickly figured things out and they discovered that this island is Saseungbong-do, located in the Ongjin district of Incheon.
However, it is not as separate as the audience thinks. According to the Incheon tourism website, this is an uninhabited private island, dubbed "Sado", which welcomes many tourists who visit by boat regularly, especially during the high season. Boat fare is 100,000 KRW (approximately 83.50 USD) for the package or 15,000 KRW (approximately 12.50 USD).
The island has been used for many variety shows such as "Running Man". There is a wide variety of activities, including swimming, camping, fishing, clam hunting and picturesque sunsets.
By getting to know each other and competing in games, young men and women have a chance to escape "Hell" and go to "Paradise", a hotel that epitomizes luxury with room service, swimming pool, As the player travels by helicopter to get there, the island is truly a "City of Heaven" and is close to Incheon International Airport, about an hour from Seoul.
The main hotel lobby and amenities are not shown in the episodes but they are certainly beautiful. It has a lobby full of shops, restaurants, casinos and more.
Surprisingly, the hotel is not as expensive as many people think, with most rooms costing an average of $450 a night. However, the deluxe room seen in the show is called "Grand Deluxe Villa with Pool." It epitomizes luxury with multiple rooms, including a dining room, master bedroom and access to a private pool.
A night's stay in this iconic room will cost 20 million KRW (approximately $16,700), with access to all amenities and a dedicated butler. That's a pretty hefty price tag and probably out of the budget of many netizens.
Not only is this the perfect location for fans of the show, but it's also a destination for many celebrity visits, from BLACKPINK's Rosé to even BIGBANG's Taeyang and actress Min Hyo. Rin held her wedding reception, as well as MAMAMOO filmed the MV here!
When present in Korea, the European-American hot dating program was Orientalized, turning the interaction between the members as cute and romantic as an idol movie. With a rating of 7, "Singles Inferno" is safe for even elementary school students, as even the members don't have any kissing or intimate scenes. This could make the show more popular, as there is no age restriction.
In addition, the way 12 boys and girls live together on the island also reminds viewers of "Terrace House" - a famous Japanese reality show that requires strangers to find a way to get along. It is suitable when suddenly moving to live in the same house.
A reality TV show that follows the process of living together, having conflicts and then turning to closeness, harmony is always a popular style, not only in Korea but also in many countries around the world.
