On September 7, Vietnam Today â Vietnam's first foreign-language national foreign television channel â officially aired. The channel broadcasts 24/7 in English and a number of other popular languages, with the mission of bringing the image of the country and people of Vietnam closer to international friends. After just a few days, the program quickly attracted attention on social networks, especially thanks to the young host team with good foreign language skills.
Among them, MC Le Hieu Minh Duc (1997) stands out with his confident demeanor and emotional English accent. Clips from his first newsletter received thousands of shares, praised for their charismatic accents and ability to fully convey the spirit of the news.
Sharing about the experience in the early days, Minh Duc said that the entire crew had to make many times more efforts to ensure the quality of international waves. Before the first news, the male MC even slept at the office to focus on work as much as possible. 30 minutes before the broadcast time, both he and his colleagues are still constantly reviewing every detail to avoid mistakes. Despite the heavy pressure, he affirmed that it was a necessary preparation for the channel's historic "pitch".
After completing all the morning news on the first day, Minh Duc breathed a sigh of relief. "My greatest joy is that the audience receives positively and pays attention to the channel. That proves that we are on the right track," he expressed.
Before falling in love with television, Minh Duc used to be a student majoring in Foreign Languages (Hanoi National University). He scored 9.0 IELTS when he was in high school, then went to Australia to study abroad and owns two bachelor's degrees in Sociology and Communication at the University of Wollongong.
In 2018, during his internship at VTV4 , he was in charge of producing short graphic clips for documentaries. That experience nurtured his love for photojournalism. When he graduated at the end of 2019, Minh Duc returned to Vietnam and accepted an invitation to work at the same place where he used to be attached.
With outstanding foreign language skills, the male MC quickly became an impressive bilingual host. Recalling the achievement of 9.0 IELTS, Minh Duc humbly said that it is just a "milestone of youth", and the real value is the ability to use foreign languages to connect and communicate. He shared that when studying abroad in Australia, the use of English became obvious, and many locals did not even know about the IELTS exam. Since then, he has focused more on his academic and life experiences instead of grades.
According to Duc, the secret to learning a foreign language effectively is to cultivate a love for the language through topics that really interest you. This not only increases vocabulary but also arouses long-term motivation. He emphasized: "Language is about connecting people and culture. When learning with the spirit of sharing and learning, skills will definitely improve."
The launch of Vietnam Today marks an important step in promoting Vietnam's image to international friends. With young faces like Le Hieu Minh Duc, the channel not only brings current affairs but also conveys the desire to bring Vietnam deeply integrated on the world media map.
