Many days have passed, the incident of a Korean girl attacking two Vietnamese students is still causing public outrage. This is no longer just a normal incident but has opened up a wave of outrage affecting the feelings between Vietnam and Korea.
The incident of two Vietnamese girls being brutally 'slapped in the face' by a Korean woman at a photobooth in My Dinh, Hanoi on the evening of July 11 is causing a strong shock, not only in Vietnam but also spreading to the Korean media. After many days of "internet storms", on the morning of July 17, Segyung Vina Company - where the Korean employee worked - officially apologized, admitted to the "unethical" behavior and committed to strict handling, including firing the related employee. This incident is not only an act of personal violence but also seriously affects the image and relationship between the two countries.
"Outrageous" developments: Vietnamese girl gets 'slapped in the face' for no reason in a photo studio
On July 11, at a photobooth in Tu Liem (Hanoi), a Vietnamese girl and her friend were suddenly loudly insulted and chased away by two Korean women for no reason even though they had made an appointment and paid.
When the Vietnamese girl explained, one of the two Korean tourists attacked her brutally: grabbing her hair, slapping her face, head and body. The other girl was also threatened. The whole incident was clearly recorded by a security camera. The victim then posted the video on social media, turning it into undeniable evidence. The incident quickly exploded and spread strongly, causing a wave of extreme indignation in the Vietnamese online community.
Korean company "bows" to apologize: fires employee, compensates Vietnamese girl!
Under pressure from public opinion, on the morning of July 17, Segyung Vina â the company whose employee was involved in the beating incident at the My Dinh photo booth â officially posted an apology on its homepage. The apology was sent to the Vietnamese Government and People, the Korean Association and other relevant parties.
According to Segyung Vina, the perpetrator was a Korean employee of the headquarters, working in Vietnam, who, along with another woman, assaulted two Vietnamese girls outside of work hours on the evening of July 11. The company only learned of the incident at noon on July 14 after the video went viral online.
Immediately, the company held an emergency meeting, contacted the victim, the site manager and closely coordinated with the authorities to handle the situation. Segyung Vina emphasized that this was an unethical and unacceptable behavior, going against the motto of complying with the law and respecting Vietnamese culture.
The company has agreed with the head office on strict measures: firing the offending employee, apologizing and fully compensating the victims. At the same time, Segyung Vina will issue a Code of Conduct for overseas employees, organize regular training, tighten internal discipline and increase cooperation with Vietnamese authorities to prevent similar incidents.
The announcement ended with a sincere apology to the victims and the Vietnamese people, and a commitment to work to build a sustainable cooperative relationship between the two countries in the spirit of companionship, mutual support and mutual respect.
Korean media "condemns": "National shame" and calls for punishment!
The incident of a South Korean man assaulting a Vietnamese woman not only shocked the country but also quickly became the focus of the South Korean media. MBN TV confirmed that the woman in the video was a South Korean citizen working in Vietnam. Notably, Yonhap News TV frankly called this a "national shame", emphasizing that this violent act seriously damaged the image of South Koreans abroad and diplomatic relations.
KBS also posted the video on its official website, attracting thousands of angry comments from the Korean online community. KBS also denied that the victim had received 3.17 million won (about 57 million VND) in compensation, showing its concern for the transparency of the case.
On Naver, Daum, and Instagram, many Korean netizens expressed their anger and shame. Comments included "What a shame", "The damage is too great: the store is affected, the national reputation is ruined", and called for the two women's identities to be made public and for them to be strictly punished according to the law.
The incident is a valuable reminder of the importance of cultural respect, law-abiding behavior and ethical conduct when abroad. It also affirms the power of social media to expose the truth and demand justice for wrongdoing.
