Miss Vietnam's father passed away, 3 days before his death he shared something emotional

Mr. Le Xuan Son, former editor-in-chief of Tien Phong Newspaper, said that poet Duong Ky Anh passed away on the morning of February 25, after a period of fighting a serious illness. The passing of the father of Miss Vietnam left many regrets for friends and colleagues.

On his personal page, poet Tran Huu Viet shared: "Mourning poet Duong Ky Anh - a special leader in the early years of working for Tien Phong Newspaper".

Three days before leaving this world, poet Duong Ky Anh showed off on his personal page the poem "Waiting for you in the festival" which was published in the newspaper. The work was written at his garden house in Soc Son, Hanoi.

Posting the poem on his personal page, poet Duong Ky Anh received many compliments from friends and readers because it brought back old memories.

In a recent article about Duong Ky Anh, poet Nguyen Quang Thieu once shared: "People love him because he is a prestigious journalist and a compassionate poet, not because he crowns this or that beauty queen... If I remember correctly, he has crowned the beauty queen 10 times on the heads of beautiful girls in this country. The previous 9 beautiful girls did not make his name, but the 10th one made him sad."

Poet Van Cong Hung once commented that poet Duong Ky Anh's poetry is very economical with words, concise, tight and full of contemplation, so one must read it with the same mindset.

Poet and journalist Duong Ky Anh, whose real name is Duong Xuan Nam, was born in 1948 in Xuyen Cam (now Tran Phu village), Ky Xuan commune, Ky Anh district, Ha Tinh province. He is the former editor-in-chief of Tien Phong newspaper and a member of the Vietnam Writers Association.

In 1972, after graduating from the University of Literature, he joined the Vietnam People's Army as a missile control officer. In 1975, he worked at Tien Phong Newspaper until his retirement.

He is one of the rare Vietnamese poets and journalists whose name is listed in the dictionary "World Cultural Celebrities" (Asia-Pacific Region).

Duong Ky Anh is known as the pioneer, the first person to bring the famous beauty contest for women to Vietnam, so people often call him "the father of Vietnamese beauty contests".

He has held the role of Head of the Organizing Committee and Head of the Jury of the Miss Vietnam contest (the first, oldest and largest Miss contest).

He won the prize of the Army Literature magazine in 1988, the prize for the best poem selected by Nhan Dan newspaper in 1988, and the special prize of Nguyen Du Literature and Arts Award with the novel Xuyen Cam in 2005.

About the Miss Vietnam contest is the oldest national beauty contest in Vietnam, first held in 1988. The contest was initiated and organized by Tien Phong newspaper, and is still the organizer. This contest aims to honor the beauty, talent and intelligence of Vietnamese women.
