In an interview with The Sunday Times published on July 7, the Suicide Squad actress spoke candidly about the addiction process. Cara recalled the first time she tried drinking alcohol in 2001 at her aunt's wedding and ended up getting drunk
"I was drunk that day. I was 8 years old at the time â it was crazy to get drunk at that age," Cara Delevingne said. "I woke up in my grandmother's bedroom with a hangover in a bridesmaid dress."
Cara Delevingne said she struggled with fame and anxiety for years, which is why she abused her substance. "I used to think that mai thuy and wine helped me overcome everything. But it is not. They make me sad and extremely depressed," said the model born in 1992.
In September 2022, Cara Delevingne was seen drooping at the airport in a drunken state after attending the Burning Man festival. Cara confessed that if she hadn't seen herself look so bad, she wouldn't have been as sober as she is today. "I'll never be Sally Bowles in the West End â something I'm extremely proud of," Cara said of her recent role in the West End play Cabaret.
Now, having maintained her sanity, Cara Delevingne said: "I feel like I've regained my strength and I'm no longer controlled by other things. I finally feel like I can be free."
Cara is still participating in an outpatient detox treatment program. She went there whenever she could and felt it worked. Cara said that detoxification is a long-term process, requiring self-discipline and self-effort. The 31-year-old model also said that she still attends parties and festivals with friends but always keeps herself sober.
In March, Cara's $7 million mansion in Los Angeles was nearly burned down in a nighttime fire. Cara said she was sorry for this and that if she hadn't really come to her senses, she might have fallen into a prolonged depression. 'Suicide Squad' star Cara Delevingne's mother said her daughter was devastated when the $7 million mansion in Los Angeles was destroyed because it kept Cara's everything.
"I think she's devastated," Pandora Delevingne, Cara's mother, told TMZ on Tuesday night. "Everything about Cara is in that house, things that are attached to her life."
Pandora Delevingne and her husband went to see Cara perform at the London Theatre and was there to encourage her daughter. After the play was over, the 31-year-old actress got in the car with her parents and left. Cara looked depressed in the car and was comforted by her mother's hand. Cara Delevingne's father said the cause of the fire may have been an electrical short. He believes something fell on the power line in very windy weather.
Cara was in England working when her mansion in Los Angeles, USA, caught fire. According to Page Six, at the time of the fire, no one was in the house.
The Los Angeles Fire Department received a fire alarm call at 4 a.m. Friday. 94 firefighters were dispatched to the scene and it took more than two hours to extinguish the fire. Photos taken in the morning show that Cara's mansion was almost completely burned down.
A spokesman for the fire department said the fire started in a room behind the house, then spread around and onto the roof. Police have not yet announced the official cause of the fire, but initial investigations show no signs of arson occurring.
As soon as she heard the news of the fire, Cara Delevingne shared her shock and posted a picture of her two pet cats on Insta Story, worried that they would burn to death. She wrote: "My heart is broken. Unbelievable. Life can change in the blink of an eye. So cherish what you have," she wrote.
Not long after, the British actress and model announced that the two cats were safe. She also thanked the firefighters who worked hard to save the house.
