Recently, a survey of the top 10 most famous Kpop female idols in Japan in 2024 was revealed. Despite being famous globally, the 4 BLACKPINK girls did not make it to the charts in the Japanese music market.
The survey is divided into many different charts, evaluating each age group of the public. In particular, for the chart by all ages, the 3 TWICE members Tzuyu, Sana and Mina all hold the top 3 positions. This is also understandable when the JYP Entertainment group is considered the "darling" in Japan and is always loved by the audience.
Meanwhile, other members of IVE and NewJeans are also on the chart, showing that 4th generation girl groups are also extremely popular with the public in the land of cherry blossoms.

Recently, the four members of BlackPink held a livestream to celebrate the group's 8th anniversary since their debut. This is the reunion of BlackPink after a long time of being separated to pursue individual activities. After the livestream, the members held a fansign to celebrate and meet fans in Seoul, Korea on the afternoon of August 8.
The girls are interested in each other's individual activities after each of them set up their own companies or joined companies other than YG. Jisoo, Jennie, and Rosé are waiting for the debut of their youngest member Lisa as an actress in the movie The White Lotus.
Lisa has been releasing new music in the meantime. The Thai-born idol will release a new single called New Woman next weekend. The song features Spanish pop star Rosalia, a Grammy Award winner. Lisa will also release New Woman on August 16, marking her first release in about two months since Rockstar.
Debuting in the summer of 2016, the four-member group has garnered much attention as YG Entertainment's first girl group in seven years since 2NE1. BlackPink has achieved some incredible milestones along the way.
To commemorate their anniversary, the group released the concert film Blackpink World Tour [Born Pink] In Cinemas on July 31. The film brings the group's concerts from last year to the screen. The group traveled to 34 different countries for about 66 concerts in front of over 1.8 million fans, becoming the K-pop girl group with the largest audience on a world tour.
Pop culture critic Kim Do Heon said BlackPink has changed the perception of K-pop artists in the global music market.
"In the past, when K-pop groups entered the global music market, they were seen as rivals trying to compete with their music... But BlackPink has attracted attention, showing off an image and appearance worthy of the reputation of pop stars.
"They have created an image that many people aspire to, on par with Western pop stars, which makes them remarkable," he said.
Releasing a string of hit songs, BlackPink has built their career on many records. The group recently reached 13 billion streams on Spotify - the world's leading online music listening platform. The group's most played songs are How You Like That, Kill This Love, Pink Venom, DDU-DU DDU-DU and Shut Down - a total of 4 billion streams.
Last year, the group made history again by becoming the first Asian artist to perform at Coachella Valley, one of the largest music festivals in the US, and the first K-pop artist to perform at the UK's major festival, BST Hyde Park.
"With each member's unique image and personality, as well as their confident attitude expressed in their music, the group has built a successful career, surpassing the boundaries of a group to become their own brand," said critic Kim.
