BI (former leader of iKON) was sentenced to 4 years of probation and fined 1.5 million won (29 million VND) for selling and using drugs.
On the morning of September 10, Korean media reported that there was a final sentence for male idol BI (former leader of iKON) for selling and using drugs.
The Seoul Central District Court sentenced the male rapper to 4 years of probation, a fine of 1.5 million won (29 million VND), in addition to 40 hours of community service and having to listen to drug treatment lectures.
During the period of 4 years of probation, serving a suspended sentence, if recidivism, BI will be subject to a penalty of 3 years in prison. This is a reduced sentence compared to the three years in prison that the prosecutor requested at the previous first instance court.
Prosecutors said that BI smoked marijuana three times in March 2016 and April 2016, and bought and sold LSD (a powerful hallucinogen).
In response, both the lawyer and BI admitted the crime and asked for a deep reflection on this mistake.
In September 2019, BI was investigated by the Gyeongggi Provincial Police Agency for about 14 hours, and many sources said that he admitted to using drugs at the time of investigation.
After the scandal, he announced that he was leaving the group iKON and ending his contract with the management company YG Entertainment.
BI's real name is Kim Han Bin, born in 1996. He first appeared in public at the age of 13 as a rapper in MC Mong's song Indian Boy .
Before getting into addiction, BI used to be one of the young stars and talented rappers of the Korean entertainment industry.
