The film Legend of the Mekong (original name is Khum Sab Lum Kong) belongs to the genre of modern action movies with many mythological elements produced by Thailand in 2020.

Art Pasut Banyam, who plays the male lead Songpop Butdara, is a popular actor and model in Thailand. Born in Samut Sakhon province, he studied at Samutsakhon Technical College and majored in media arts at Siam University. His father is Rak Banyam - a veteran actor of the Golden Temple cinema. Art Pasut Banyam won the Nataraj Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Associate Professor - Dr. Pethai, working in the Department of Ancient Relics of the Museum, is a young, beautiful and talented girl. She is considered one of the best experts in antiques in Southeast Asia. Pethai devoted a lot of effort to a research project about the ancient city of Nakusa - a temple in folk legend. Pethai often dreamed that she was wearing traditional Thai dress and had an incident where she was killed.

Legend has it that the city of Nakusa was protected by four families of Serpents, namely: Virupak Xa, Erapatha Xa, Chapphayaputta Xa and Kanhakotama Xa. When the four Xa-headed statues were lost, the city collapsed and sank deep into the Mekong River without leaving a trace. Thousands of years later, people began to search for the truth about it, as well as the ambition to possess the power of the 4 Snake Gods.

Songpop Butdara, a handsome and witty guy, is also a high-class antiques dealer. He was nicknamed "The Illegal Professor" because of his extensive knowledge of ancient cultures. However, Songpop is also a hand that specializes in counterfeiting antiques to sell to giants.

The work caused the two to clash when a rich man invited Pethai to inspect the antiques he bought from Songpop and she confirmed that it was fake. This is also when she meets Songpop, whose face resembles the one who killed her in her dream. Because of this, Pethai has a grudge against Songpop at first sight.

When Pethai was still confused about the ancient city of Nakusa, Songpop had in his hand an object believed to come from that city. At the same time, the World Antiquities Bureau discovered a stele from the Nakusa culture. Many things happened at the same time, many clues revealed that two people like the moon and the sun entered the search to discover the ancient citadel.

Songpop, because he needed money to save his adoptive mother, accepted to lead the gangsters who specialize in antique hunters in search of treasure. Meanwhile, Pethai, in collaboration with the police, is also anxious to find the ancient citadel to protect the national heritage from falling into the hands of smugglers.

Greed, fame, and money pulled people into a fierce battle. In the deep forest, between human traps and curses and magic from the ancient city, who will be the lucky one to overcome? A mystical adventure in which faith, greed, fanaticism and disaster will spread throughout the journey. Who will be the ultimate winner or all will suffer the same fate of failure, all will be clearly portrayed throughout more than 50 episodes of Legend of the Mekong.
