Anh Vien's name was well known and noticed in 2011, when she successfully broke 2 regional records, won 6 gold medals and became the best athlete at the Southeast Asian Age Group Championships. With her natural talent and relentless training, at the 26th SEA Games, Anh Vien excellently won 2 silver medals in the 100m backstroke and 400m medley for her country when she was just 15 years old.

At the next SEA Games, Anh Vien continuously won many awards and became the only Vietnamese female athlete to win the SEA Games swimming gold medal after 54 years. "Little mermaid" continuously swept the big and small swimming awards and was promoted to Captain by the Ministry of Defense when he was only 18 years old.

In 2020, Anh Vien's performance went down, she failed in the group stage in the swimming events of the Summer Olympics - Tokyo Olympics. However, fisherman Anh Vien has always worked tirelessly, in 2021, she won 5 gold medals, 1 silver medal in individual content as well as 2 gold medals and 2 silver medals in relay content at the 25m national championship in Thua Thien - Hue.

After a while, Anh Vien suddenly announced her retirement in March 2022. Despite being encouraged to try to compete in the SEA Games in May 2022, she decided to stop her playing career. The reason that Anh Vien gave was: "Now I want to live a normal, free life and learn more new things".

More than a year after retiring, Anh Vien seems to have completely changed. She participates in meaningful activities such as calling for benefactors to contribute to taking care of the present and future lives of orphans after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Anh Vien of the present, is no longer too alienated, afraid to communicate, keeps her personal life a secret anymore. During 15 years of dedication to swimming in Vietnam with countless achievements, after retiring Anh Vien returned to work as a swimming teacher with positive energy and love for life. She chose for herself a simple slogan in her swimming lessons: "Learning to swim is easy, Vien only shows it". Becoming a teacher of children can still satisfy their passion for swimming, Anh Vien seems happier, smiling more.
