Angelina Jolie quits directing after breaking up with Brad Pitt because of kids

In order to have more time for her children, actress Angelina Jolie gave up her favorite director job and returned to acting.

Angelina Jolie had a time to focus on filmmaking and directed four films in the first half of the 2010s. However, in the last three years she has returned to acting, participating in many films in which mainly sports the same kind of behavior as when you were young. The 45-year-old star spoke about this shift in an interview earlier this week with EW.

"I love directing, but changing family circumstances have made it impossible for me to take on that role over the past few years," explains Angelina. "I needed to do shorter work and be at home more. So I went back to acting, doing some movies. It's true."

The last time Jolie sat in the director's chair was the movie First They Killed My Father (2017). The project received a Golden Globe nomination in the category "Best Foreign Language Film". Before that, she directed and starred in the romantic movie By the Sea with ex-husband Brad Pitt. The two play the role of a broken couple, trying to mend their relationship in a hotel in France.

Angelina Jolie indirectly mentioned the change in her life since her marriage to Brad Pitt broke up. The actress divorced Brad in 2016 and is the main caregiver of the children. Because for the children to be close to their father, Angelina could not take all 6 children to go to the movies away from home with her for many months as before.

In February, Jolie confessed that she faced many difficulties when she had to be a single mother to raise six children during the epidemic. "I find myself lacking in the skills of a traditional housewife. I got through the pandemic because my children are resilient. They help me." She said she spends a lot of time with her children because she wants to heal the emotional trauma after the divorce with Brad Pitt. The actress currently lives with her six children at the former mansion of legendary film producer Cecil B DeMille, the house she bought after breaking up with Brad Pitt in 2016.

She returned to Maleficent season 2 in 2019, joined Come Away in 2020 and voiced the animated film The One and Only Ivan the same year. She joined the cast of Marvel superhero movies called Eternals scheduled to be released later this year. The mother-of-six also starred in the action movie Those Who Wish Me Dead released in May.

Those Who Wish Me Dead firefighter Hannah Faber was just the type of role she was looking for. One day, Hannah stumbles across a 12-year-old boy who is full of panic and has nowhere else to go. After witnessing a barbaric murder, the boy had to run away from the assassins who were looking for him in the forest fire. Hannah becomes the boy's sole protector against this criminal group.

Angelina Jolie shot this movie in 2019 in the mountains of New Mexico. While filming, Jolie still took the time to go home with her children or take them to the set for a few days. She performed many action scenes, dangerous chases without the need for a stuntman.
