Vu Huan: Step up from the "ugly guy", once ostracized for being stubborn, helped by Quyen Linh

In recent years, Vu Huan made his mark as a director when he succeeded with a series of TV series.

Director Vu Huan was born into a family of teachers in Ho Chi Minh City. His parents wanted him to attend schools with a future in economics, pedagogy or medicine.

Once, director Vu Huan expressed his intention to become an actor, even though he knew that he had participated in the arts at school, his parents refused. The reason given is that art is too precarious and most of all, they know their children are very ugly, there will be no future with that profession that needs to be sharp and sharp.

Vu Huan did not directly disobey his father, but at the same time, he applied for the financial university entrance exam and the theater arts school 2. He passed the two schools at the same time but gave up the arts. He graduated from the University of Finance in 1998, worked as a salesman for a few years, and saved some money.

Having more money than friends of the same age, but in the heart of Vu Huan is not happy. The dream of becoming an artist kept smoldering in his mind. So Huan dropped everything, re-entered the art school, studied with the juniors.

Aware that, I started late and disadvantaged in appearance, so Vu Huan was very dedicated. He delves into characters with personality. He volunteered to help with film crews and theater troupes. Whatever he does, he does it to understand the profession and look for opportunities.

One day, the door of fortune opened. Vu Huan recalls: "In my second year of art school, looking at my thin and black body plus my big nose and open eyes, everyone said that my dream of becoming an artist was a paranoia. But for some reason, Quyen Linh saw in me a certain possibility.

Quyen Linh introduced me to play the main role in the movie "The Wind of Resurrection" by director Tran Vinh. From that film, the door of art opened before my eyes. But then, the eagerness, the crawling lung of youth, caused me many problems on my artistic journey."

Unruly should be ostracized, unemployed

After that film, Vu Huan was trusted by directors. He joined the theater stage 5B Vo Van Tan. Here, he specializes in the role of villains.

During this time, Vu Huan's appearance began to change in the direction of masculinity, strength and roughness. According to Vu Huan, at that time, there was a senior artist who suggested that he love the same sex, on the condition that he would have the opportunity to become famous. Tormented violently because of the precious opportunity to support like gold, but in the end Vu Huan refused. Vu Huan is still looking for more opportunities.

The late director Chau Hue made the movie "Career", which helped make the main cast a star. In which, Vu Huan was assigned a supporting role, the name of the mean-spirited Gypsy Thinh Bo. The tough appearance, slanted eyes, and strong acting have made this role especially popular with the audience.

Therefore, in the second part, director Chau Hue raised Thinh Bo's role to the main line. Since then, Huan won the show of villains and didn't stop there, he embodied all kinds of personalities.

Vu Huan can act well the exemplary moral character of politician Ton Duc Thang, can turn into a rich, lewd man in the role of Thanh in the movie "Tan Phong female". At this point, the director can safely assign him any type of role.

Vu Huan has a strong foothold in Vietnamese showbiz, but Vu Huan understands that if he wants to stay in the acting industry for a long time, he must become a director. So he entered the directing department at his old school, had free time, Vu Huan applied to be a deputy director for many famous seniors.

He groped for director Xuan Cuong for initial guidance. Later, he was enthusiastically taught by the late director Chau Hue.

Becoming more and more mature in the profession, it seemed that the path to fame would be successful, the more Vu Huan revealed his personality to the point of being unruly. This makes many people unhappy and uncooperative. Vu Huan was unemployed for 2 years straight.

He recalls: "When my career was stable, I got married. I had a house and a car, but when my colleagues boycotted, I was really stuck. I had to help my wife with the business and make a living from day to day.

Seeing that the situation was starting to become more dangerous, I was about to enter the taxi driving career, but fortunately someone asked me to go to work. Since then, I started to gradually correct my habits. Stop arguing, learn to listen and be patient."

Work to exhaustion, accident must go to the emergency

Then Vu Huan was entrusted by the producer to make the first film titled "The Price of Fame". Because most of the movie scene takes place at night, Vu Huan almost only sleeps for 1-2 hours a day for a month. Plus the mentality of wanting the movie to be complete, so he buried his head in work, eating and drinking through speakers.

The day the film closed, Vu Huan rode his motorbike home, but because he was so tired, he fell asleep while running. He crashed into an electric pole, his head hit the ground, bleeding profusely, passed out.

Fortunately, the place where he had an accident was near his home, so Vu Huan's wife promptly took her husband to the emergency room. Vu Huan slept for two days and nights before waking up.

However, the difficulty is not over. The station saw that Vu Huan's name was too thin in the role of director, so it did not want to broadcast. Thanks to investor Tran Chi Minh's struggle, the film was screened and successful. At this time, Vu Huan experienced the price of fame full of blood and tears.

He was trusted by the producer and invited to other films. He worked diligently and hard, but his strong personality continued to make it difficult for him.

He dared to give the lead role to young actors, or to give roles with unusual personalities to stars who have already established their style. The producer protested, Vu Huan argued to the end to defend his artistic point of view.

Hoa Hiep was originally assigned the role of gentleness and kindness, and Lam Minh Thang was always a Gypsy on the screen. In the movie "The Grim Exit", Vu Huan invites Hoa Hiep to play the role of a murderer, cunning and Lam Minh Thang to play the role of a righteous spirit.

Many people object. They say that Vu Huan shaping the character's personality like that is a bad movie. Vu Huan determined to fight to the end. As a result, both Hoa Hiep and Lam Minh Thang have two impressive roles. The producer gave money to Vu Huan after the movie was released.

Not only being successful on TV series, Vu Huan is also trusted in the drama genre. HTV station has 3 drama programs with the duration of 25 minutes, 60 minutes and 90 minutes.

The 90-minute drama each year produces about 10 plays because of the need to invest heavily, Vu Huan is often invited to edit for this genre. In addition, he is also responsible for many major national events.

Despite having a stable career and a home full of happiness, director Vu Huan's heart is always troubled when witnessing the sufferings and illnesses of other artists. He often pays tribute to poor and sick senior artists with both money and spirit.
