Phan Thi Truc (SN 1946, living in District 4, Ho Chi Minh City) was born into a middle-class family in Saigon before 1975. In her childhood, her parents facilitated full education. At the age of 18, after Nam Cam finished serving his sentence for murder and was released from the camp, he happened to meet Truc and the two became husband and wife. Almost the period after getting married, Nam Cam's life was completely "hiding in his wife's skirt". They were all adopted and surrounded by her husband and wife - Nam Cam's brother-in-law, Tu Xam and Bay Xi.

Poor life makes Nam Cam and her husband discuss big business plans every day. In the years after the country was liberated, the people actively participated in the economy, so he and his wife also accumulated money, pooled capital to buy a few sao of fields in Cai Be district (Tien Giang) to grow fruit trees. However, it seems that all their efforts were empty-handed when the flood season in the early 1980s swept away all the trees and crops.

Returning to Saigon, Nam Cam was bored, disappointed and constantly blamed the fate. Finally, father and son Truong Van Cam carried their bags and walked heavily to the house located in Sau Can alley (District 4, Ho Chi Minh City), where Ms. Truc was waiting.

Entering Xuan Loc prison (Long Khanh commune, Dong Nai), Truc "mother mother" was sentenced to sub-camp 5. According to a warden, in the early days of her arrival, this powerful woman lived in a state of panic. She often cried and struggled, but after a while, with the encouragement of camp officials as well as the help of other inmates, Truc "mother mother" gradually regained her balance and lived in harmony.
