Discovering a "strange" animal in her bed at dawn, a woman in District 12 (HCMC) asked her neighbors to help catch it. The forest ranger came to receive the animal and brought it to rescue, determining that it was a ground python weighing about 0.5kg.

On the afternoon of January 23, Ms. Ton Nu Thi Xi (from Thua Thien Hue province, living in Tan Thoi Hiep ward, district 12) handed over a small python to the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department.

Specifically, around 2 a.m. on January 21, Ms. Xi was sleeping with her two children in the room when she woke up. The woman pulled out a blanket to cover herself and immediately panicked because she discovered a "soft and cold animal" lying right next to her armpit. As if water had just been splashed on her face, Ms. Xi woke up immediately.

"I thought it was a python or a snake, but I was afraid they would panic, so I calmly asked them to go out before calling the neighbors to come catch them," Ms. Xi said.

Hearing Ms. Xi's call, six neighbors came over to help catch the animal. "A neighbor used a stick to push the blanket away and found out that the animal above was a python" - Ms. Xi recounted. After that, she fed the python two bananas and called the rangers to hand it over.

Coming to Ms. Xi's house to receive the python for rescue according to regulations, a ranger from the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department determined that this was a ground python weighing about 0.5kg and about 60cm long.

Ms. Xi said her bedroom was very tight, air-conditioned and "hard for any animal to get in" but it was unclear how the python crawled in to lie next to her and her daughter. The incident made the woman very scared and worried.

"Someone asked for the above python but I refused. I hope the python will return to its habitat" - Ms. Xi said.

Why do pythons/snakes enter people's houses?

Nowadays, the natural habitat of snakes is gradually shrinking, making way for construction projects of factories, residential areas, houses, companies, etc. Besides, the forest is the place where Snake habitats are increasingly being exploited. This causes the area and living space of snakes to be limited and invaded. On the other hand, another reason is that in the process of hunting or looking for a mate, a few snakes will stray into people's houses.

From the above reasons, it can be explained why snakes often crawl into houses to hide. Therefore, when entering the house, they can crawl through windows, openings, ceilings, water pipes, etc. Or late in the afternoon or at night, they can also crawl in from the yard or garden.

How to prevent snakes from entering the house is simple and effective, not everyone knows

Clean the house neatly and airy

Kil.l insects and mice to limit snakes entering the house

Use lemongrass to prevent snakes from entering the house

Spices have a strong smell

Plant ornamental plants to repel snakes

Raising dogs and cats - Loyal friends prevent snakes from entering the house

Make your own snake repellant solution

Use fluorescent powder (hung huang)

Use professional snake killer

Be calm and don't let the snake get excited

Find a way to chas.e snakes out

Snake trap with box

Spray water on the snake

The first way to prevent snakes from entering the house is to keep the house clean and tidy, not only does it make the house more tidy, but it also helps repel insects, including snakes. Because most reptiles like snakes prefer dens, dark corners like under beds, etc. as their place of residence. This is also the reason why regularly cleaning the living space to make it more airy will cause them to lose their hiding place.
