Although it is not clear whether the Vietnamese Rap contestant is actually a copycat or not. However, the Korean rapper's "analysis" of Vietnamese music is causing intense controversy because it is demeaning to Vietnamese music.
Over the past few days, rap fans in particular and the audience in general have had many mixed opinions surrounding Rhyder's performance at the Vietnamese Rap Breakthrough round. To be fair, Rhyder still received a lot of praise after the "makeover", really "shooting rap" true to the name Vietnamese Rap.
Besides, a section of netizens is still unhappy with Rhyder's performance. They did not deny Rhyder's rapping ability but also pointed out the cringe when the guy "refused to rap, just liked to sing" in the first 2 rounds, it was not until round 3 that he actually rapped again to get straight to the Final.
Notably, many argue that the melody in Rhyder's song has many similarities with Melody of ASH ISLAND, the famous Korean rapper born in 1999. Many fans of ASH ISLAND and rap fans flooded the comment section of the Rap Viet fanpage to confront and question Rhyder and the producer about this similarity.
- The breakout round doesn't mean that only this round doesn't mean that you have to watch all 3 rounds. So explain this case with?
- 2 Non-rap rounds 3 rounds and called breakouts. Ogenus 2 rounds ago was too good this one was good but didn't break through!
- Is it like G.D. on the outside, Ash Island on the inside?
- Think Ash Island is about Vietnam?
When the dust has not calmed down, recently, veteran Korean rapper - J'Kyun - made a Tik Tok clip, running Vietnamese subtitles to confirm that Rhyder's participation has "borrowed" ASH ISLAND.
Specifically, in the clip, after running Rhyder's performance and the melody of the song Melody, the rapper concluded: "The song Melody was composed by Korean rapper Ash Island, I think this friend borrowed quite a lot. I'm a big fan of Vpop, I feel a little sad. There are many good songs in Vietnam, I tried covering some of them..."
It is worth mentioning, in addition to the expert analysis of Rhyder's performance and the music product that is believed to be original. The Korean rapper is "ready" to say something controversial when he intends not to take the Vietnamese music industry seriously, saying that the Vpop market lacks original songs: "From now on, hopefully in Vietnam, I hope to release more original songs."
Immediately, musician Chau Dang Khoa responded with a sarcastic implication: "Korean music also has many original songs. Original USUK" - with the implication that many K-pop songs also borrow USUK musical material. Chau Dang Khoa also gave an expert perspective, saying that Rhyder, although "rapping bored" but not plagiarism: "Although I find Otter rapping boring, I would like to confirm that he does not plagiarize because the 2 melodic routes are not the same at all: 1:A A A A A G F# E F#/ 2: G Ab G FFF Eb Eb Eb G G".
Musician Luu Thien Huong also left a comment just below Chau Dang Khoa's post. She also gave the following professional perspective: "But there is a law, all 11 notes in a row are illegal, the new case I have just heard: 1:A A A A A G F# E F#/ 2:G Ab G FFF Eb Eb G G. Anyone who does not know the note also sees it up and down differently, Where's the religion?" Liu Tianxiang added: "Why do you accuse yourself of not understanding the color of music, harmony, singing or flow rap, it is easy to lead to misunderstanding in the field of plagiarism: "write like notes", go to court in the wrong law to receive slander."
Shortly after the end of the episode, Rhyder tweeted: "Convincing or not, my mom feels happy that I'm happy." Rhyder's implication is also quite clear as he is well aware that his performance at the Breakthrough round in particular and the Vietnamese Rap journey in general are controversial, the servant - the not.
It was Rhyder's versatility in singing, rapping, playing tunes while playing drums that also made the audience admire and judge Andree Right Hand's participation in the Final completely deserved.
At the end of the competition, the judges and coaches also admitted that today Rhyder was really rapping rather than "singing" like the previous 2 rounds. Specifically, Thai coach VG commented: "I find this performance very wonderful, today I heard you rap and there is nothing to criticize. I watched your videos on YouTube when you were 10 or 12 and I thought you were born for art."
Judge Karik said: "When I saw your entire performance today, drumming, rapping, singing, I have to admit you were really born to be an entertainment star!"
