The 'King of Speed' actor and 2 daughters died due to plane crash, viral close-up clip

The crash of a plane in waters near Bequia Island has killed 'King of Speed' actor Christian Oliver, his two young daughters and the pilot. Later, a clip of the moment the plane crashed was shared, leaving everyone in mourning.

According to Variety, the plane crashed at noon on Thursday while carrying father and son Christian Oliver from Bequia Island in the Grenadines Islands to St. Lucia Island. The German actor and his daughters Madita Klepser, 12, and Annik Klepser, 10, were the only passengers. They died along with pilot Robert Sachs.

"Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft malfunctioned and plunged into the sea," St. Vincent and the Grenadines Royal Police said in a statement. Police said fishermen and divers assisted in the search as soon as they received word of the accident. Christian Oliver, his children and the pilot were found at the scene by the Coast Guard. They were transferred to the island nation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, where an autopsy was carried out to determine the cause of death.

The plane involved was a small single-engine aircraft owned and operated by Robert Sachs. Sachs contacted the control tower at Bequia to report problems and planned to return to the island. However, that was the last communication before the crash, local newspaper Searchlight reported.

The New York Post published a video compilation of images of the tragic plane crash in waters near Bequia Island on Thursday afternoon. Various videos were taken by some locals as they noticed the small plane had problems on takeoff.

The video shows the plane dived into the sea, splashed foam and then sank. The person filming the video shouted: "The plane crashed! Call the coast guard!"

Cornell Campbell, who witnessed the crash, told local news site iWitness that the plane caught people's attention because of the strange sound of the engine and propeller. He saw the plane crash, then it regained its balance and flew back. However, only a moment later, it plunged into the sea. "When the plane sank, it made a 'Bouff!' sound. That's why I thought it exploded," Cornell Campbell said.

Another witness, Tyrone Durham, a retired coast guard officer, said the plane may have suffered engine failure. "It looks like it's coming back to the airport," he said. "But it was controlled by the wind and fell into the sea."

Christian Oliver and his two daughters (his children with his ex-wife, Jessica Mazur) are on New Year's Eve vacation in the Caribbean. On January 1, the actor posted a photo on the beach with the caption: "Greetings from somewhere in heaven." On the photo, the actor wrote: "Let love rule. I wish you all the best in 2024."

Christian Oliver is a German actor who lives and works in the United States. He played Snake Oiler in the 2008 film Speed Racer , starred opposite Tom Cruise in Valkyrie in 2009 and appeared in many other films such as Sense8, The Baby-Sitters Club, Saved by the Bell: The New Class... Last year, he appeared in the blockbuster Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny as a voice actor. Christian Oliver just finished filming the movie Forever Hold Your Peace , which he produced in December 2023.

Co-star Bai Ling was shocked and saddened to hear the devastating news. She paid tribute to Christian Oliver on Instagram: "It was the first and last film we worked together. I enjoyed working with him. Christian was a kind, hardworking man who was both brave and gentle. We played lovers in this movie. It was heartbreaking to hear the news."
