People's Artist Tran Hanh just breathed his last at 2:50 am on March 4 at his family home. In recent years, People's Artist Tran Hanh has rarely participated in movies despite being invited by many directors, but his health does not allow it.

As a veteran artist, he struggled to get the title of people's artist. He was conferred the title of excellent artist in 1984, but was only conferred the people's artist title until 2019.

People's Artist Tran Hanh was born in 1929 in Hanoi, is a veteran artist, has been with the Hanoi Drama Theater since graduating to retirement in 1989. On stage, artist Tran Hanh has played many outstanding roles with plays such as "Lam Son gathers meaning", "Calling the frontline", "Old cocoon", "Conspiracy and love".

Many television roles bring the "brand" of this 80-year-old artist closer to the public than roles in movies such as: "Vase of Past Life", "Retired General", "Fairy Tales". age 17", "Woman's tears", "Life notebook", "Forgive me", "The hole in the alley", "Floating village", "Storm through the village". In 2017, he also played a small role in the movie "Father and son". "

The performance of artist Tran Hanh was recognized by the industry and colleagues at the same time. He once won the gold medal for the role of Nguyen Trai in "Lam Son gathers meaning". At that time, playwright Luu Quang Vu once said that among the actors playing Nguyen Trai, Tran Hanh exuded the pompous style of Hanoians.

At the 11th Vietnam Film Festival, Artist Tran Hanh won the Best Actor award for his role in the movie "Woman's Tears." In 2010, he also received the award for dedication to the film. "The hole in the hole" by director Quoc Trong.

People's Artist Tran Hanh was born and raised in Hanoi. His great-grandfather was born and worked at the Ngo Tu Ha printing factory on Nha Tho street, and his mother was a small merchant. But then, happiness did not last long when, in an illness, his father left, leaving his wife and children orphaned. Having lost his father at the age of 8, he had to live on his own very early. To help his mother support his family, he worked as a hired shoemaker in Trang Tien Street. While making shoes, Tran Hanh participated in drama activities at the Youth Club (of the Hanoi Youth Union). In the club there are many friends who later became famous names in the Vietnamese theater industry such as: DD Doan Hoang Giang, People's Artist Trong Khoi, People's Artist Doan Dung. Later, he joined the Hanoi Drama Troupe, accepting a life of struggle with a few dozen salaries per month.

His life was full of hardships. After many years of taking care of his wife, who was bedridden, until she died, in old age, Tran Hanh had to take care of his 40-year-old son who suffered a brain injury due to an accident. However, he did not consider himself unhappy. He lived a simple life, did not ask for too much, satisfied with what he received.

When he was still healthy, he often went to his daughter-in-law's clothing store at Hanoi railway station, helping his son sell goods. The image of the austere old man on film and simple in real life became familiar to many audiences. Every time a guest recognized his face, he denied it, saying: "I'm not Tran Hanh". The greatest happiness in Tran Hanh's life is acting. He once said: "Giving gold is not as good as having a role". He never put too much emphasis on remuneration.

As a native of Hanoi, imbued with the pomp of an old town boy, Tran Hanh entered the public's heart with his ascetic, pitiful roles, gentle and simple peasant roles. Currently, colleagues and fans have bid farewell to the talented artist and deeply condolences to the family of People's Artist Tran Hanh.
