Twice crowned

Nguyen Thien Nga was born in 1975 in Ho Chi Minh City. She was crowned Miss Tien Phong newspaper (now Miss Vietnam) in 1996, at the age of 21. That year, both the judges and the public judged that Swan was completely worthy of the crown because it was not only beautiful but also intelligent.

The title of Miss Vietnam in 1996 helped Thien Nga become one of the famous models in Ho Chi Minh City, participating in most of the major fashion shows at that time. In 1999, she participated in the first Miss Vietnam contest to select Vietnamese beauties to compete in Miss International Friendship (the first time held in Vietnam). With an excellent performance, Swan once again reached the top spot. Then, when she competed at Miss Friendship International 1999, she entered the top 10 and received the second runner-up prize in Southeast Asia.

Quit showbiz, pursue education

Despite having an open path in the entertainment industry, only 5 years after the coronation, Swan decided to go to America to study and make a career. In the US, she studied Business Administration at San Jose State University. After graduating from college, she took on a role as a business consultant for an organization in Silicon Valley in northern California.

Since coming to the US, Miss Swan's life has been a mystery to the media. For many years, the public did not know anything about her. Later, when asked about her decision to go to the US when her career was on the rise, she said: "I have never regretted that decision, because that is the path I want to go."

Knowing that her husband does not like being too close to her partners, Swan always actively keeps her mind in relationships. She also gradually moved away from the glamor of the entertainment world to both complete the job of an investment consultant for a company, while taking care of and nurturing her home according to her husband's wishes. Swan's marriage was more happy when her son Anthony was born.

Great Incidents

In 1996, while competing in Miss Vietnam, Swan received the news that her mother had suddenly passed away due to a serious illness. Being loved and pampered by her mother, this news seemed too much for Swan to bear. For a long time, she held a pain that was hard to share with anyone.

At the end of 2015, Swan received another terrible event. She was dumbfounded when she heard that her husband had suddenly died of a heart attack in her private office. At this time, Miss is taking her son to school. The pain of losing a loved one once again plunged her into depression, unable to do anything for the next 2 years. Only when she heard her son's sobs because he missed his father, did Swan wake up and realized that he had to work harder and be more active to take care of his son.

Later, Swan said chokingly: "My husband passed away unexpectedly, my son and I lost support, so life was very unstable. We suddenly fell from the clouds to the ground. But I am the mother, again. As an adult, I had to support my child.My spirit was very weak at that time, crying every night and calling my father's name. When I was suffering, but if I thought I had to sacrifice for others, I suddenly felt no more suffering. To help her and help herself through this bad period, Swan forced herself to fill the void in her son's father's absence. She did everything to make her child happy again because at that time, her mother was the most important person.

Being tight-lipped, Swan's current life in the US is not shared much by her. In 2018, when returning home to attend the final of Miss Vietnam, Swan first revealed the pain of her life. Despite understanding impermanence, Swans still shed tears when it comes to her husband's departure.

When returning to Vietnam after 17 years of absence, Swan took her 13-year-old son with her. She once revealed that her son is young, but his thinking is very mature. She always considers her son as a friend who can share everything in life.
