Tom Holland is a British actor famous for his role as Spider Man, recently his candid sharing when admitting that he was addicted to alcohol and his detoxification process received a lot of attention.

Recently, sharing in an interview, famous British actor Tom Holland said he has undergone a journey of change by abstaining from alcohol in the past 18 months. In the podcast, "On Purpose With Jay Shetty," Holland said the decision has brought a happiness and comfort he's never experienced.

The Spider-Man star says the road to alcoholism isn't one or two days. Like many people, the actor had a period of "burying his head" in parties, celebrating in a fun atmosphere, with friends enjoying a little alcoholic drink.

After a long time, the actor decided to stop drinking for a month. What surprised him was that for a month, Tom Holland found himself thinking about drinking.

"I tried to commit to not drinking for a month but all I could think about was drinking," Tom Holland recalls the moment he realized he needed to quit before it was too late.

Tom Holland tried quitting drinking in January 2022 to join a no-drinking campaign at the time. However, the 27-year-old star quickly realized that she could not control this desire.

"I woke up and immediately thought about alcohol. I checked my watch and it scared me," the British actor confessed, "So I decided to punish myself and not drink. alcohol within 2 months".

After these two months, Tom Holland felt extremely miserable when using alcohol. The British actor shared: "I felt like I couldn't get along. I couldn't go to a pub and drink a glass of lemon soda. I couldn't go out to dinner. I really struggled."

In particular, Holland found herself separating herself from her friends in the rugby community, "because a lot of the story is how much you can drink".

"I said to myself: Why? Why are we enslaved to this drink? Why are we so obsessed with the idea of drinking this drink?".

The Marvel star has finally decided it's time for a detox. Until now, Tom Holland is still successfully not drinking for the past 6 months. He experienced an incredible feeling of joy and satisfaction. The actor claims it was the happiest period of his life ever.

"I sleep better, I solve all my problems better. I feel more relaxed, I feel healthier. And I gradually realized why I let myself become a slave to alcohol? I I don't understand why I used to be so addicted to alcohol," Tom Holland shared.

Holland says his journey to quit drinking inspired his mother to follow suit with positive results. Also in the interview, Tom Holland admitted that this is not the first time the actor has tried to quit drinking. In the past, he had tried many times to detox but failed.

Also in the interview, British star Tom Holland admitted that the Hollywood entertainment industry is not for him, even "scares him".

"I'm a huge fan of filmmaking, but I really don't like Hollywood. It's not for me. I've seen a lot of people come before me and lose themselves. I've had people. friends that I grew up with, but are no longer my friends because they lost themselves in this job. Really, I just want to focus on what makes me happy like family, friends. .. Those are the things that make me really happy and something I should protect," Holland confided.

Earlier in June, the actor announced that he would take a break from Hollywood activities for a while to rest and recuperate, after producing and starring in the series "The Crowded Room". The actor said that after filming "The Crowded Room", he will spend time with family and friends and also allow himself to rest and travel.
