Liu Mingyu was born on June 5, 1970, the son of the late theater screenwriter, poet Liu Guangyu and artist To Uyen. His parents were married from 1969 to 1972. On August 29, 1988, his father, poet Luu Quang Vu, his second wife, poet Xuan Quynh, and son Liu Quynh Tho died in a car accident in Hai Duong.

The programs that helped Luu Minh Vu become the "national MC" 1 of the Olynpia era are one of the most popular educational television programs of Vietnamese television. Liu was active throughout the show's three seasons in 2000, 2002, and 2003.

For Liu Mingyu, August 29, 1988 can be said to be the most painful moment in his life when 3 of his relatives died permanently due to a tragic traffic accident, leaving an unhealable wound in his heart.

He said that in August 1988, Liu Quynh Tho was only 13 years old and on summer vacation. At that time, the late poet Luu Quang Vu had to go on a business trip to Hai Phong, so he rented a car to bring his wife Xuan Quynh and son with him so that he could later go to Do Son to play.

But unexpectedly, misfortune struck when a tragic accident occurred at the foot of Phu Luong bridge (Hai Duong). According to the BTV, compared to today, there were rarely traffic accidents in those days because transportation was very limited. His family renting a car is very conditional.

Liu Mingyu shared that people didn't let him go down to Hai Duong when the accident happened, robbing his mother and younger brother: I was old enough to remember everything, but still not old enough for me to overcome the shock. Even though I was 18 years old, old enough to remember everything, it wasn't enough to get over the shock.

I keep blaming fate for taking them from my life, but it's too grim." Although not a biological son, Liu Mingyu always considered the poet Xuan Quynh as a second mother. Nam MC did not hesitate to call the late poet with the dear name of Mother Quynh. He further shared that he was deeply touched and grateful to Quynh's mother, although she is a famous love poet, her work is always busy, but she still manages and cares for her family.

That deep affection made the pain in Liu Mingyu's heart still linger. He couldn't stop the sadness that hit him every time the anniversary of his parents' death came. Hearing someone read a poem from his father or mother or seeing their familiar image, he felt heavy again.

He can't seem to get over the pain of being "too big and too heavy." At times, he had to "hint" to himself that, luckily his father and mother were together, if only one of them died, he didn't know how the other would continue to live.

He confessed that many times he wished that Liu Guangyu's father could be a little less talented so that he could live longer next to him and not be too talented and leave so soon. All this time, he always kept the same house on Hue Street, their old home, even though he did not live there. Liu Mingyu confided: "Every time I go there, I feel fascinated in every corner of memory. If I stay there for a long time, I'm afraid I'll lose my nerves."

In 1999, Liu Mingyu decided to get married at the age of 29. Later, the MC revealed that he and his wife knew each other before he went to study abroad. When he returns, they meet again and quickly fall in love.

Sharing about his decision to get married, the journalist believes that the two became husband and wife because of fate and he himself is a believer in the word "charm" in life. When asked about his small family, Liu Minh Vu shared: "My wife is very different from me, but getting married is new. She's not a TV person either. We have two sons together, both of whom are very independent."

Although he was busy with work at the station, Liu Mingyu still found time to help his wife. He shared that his wife complimented him on good cooking. The male MC also said that he has always yielded to women, not just to his wife. However, his wife was never jealous because he was very serious and always worried about his wife.
