About MAIQUIN, Quinn Hien Mai, real name Nguyen Hien Mai, born in 1998 in Phu Tho province, known by the stage name MAIQUIN, is a potential young singer of the Vietnamese music industry. Since childhood, Mai Hien Mai has shown her passion for art early, when she was a kindergarten student, her family facilitated her to participate in art activities at the Children's Cultural Palace or in the Mang Non propaganda team at the Cultural Center of Ba Dinh District in Hanoi.

Despite her artistic talent, her family did not really support her choosing the path of singing to develop her career, but with her efforts and achievements, the seriousness of her attitude towards art gradually made her family change her mind and support her.

In terms of education, Mai Hien Mai studied and graduated from the Military University of Culture and Arts – a serious and methodical music training environment, which has helped her practice through many songs that require high vocal techniques.

Although she is technically equipped, when determining the direction of her career, she chose music that is closer and more accessible to the masses to convey emotions in a direct and rustic way.

Career turning point

The first big turning point came for Hien Mai in 2017 when she participated in the reality TV show Vietnamese Voice ( The Voice ) that season, under the guidance of coach Noo Phuoc Thinh. she was awarded the overall runner-up, opening a new direction for her singing career.

After the contest, she continued to work in the field of music, participated in cover projects, and collaborated in the M.A.D Production group to make a number of cover videos that were well received by the audience.

After that, Mai Hien Mai Nam moved forward and chose Ho Chi Minh City as the place to develop her music career. She thinks that this is a dynamic and opportunity-rich city, where many Northern artists have started their businesses and achieved success, so she decided to go south to learn and develop herself more.

The initial difficulties of life and the unfamiliar working environment did not discourage her; On the contrary, she considers it as a motivation for herself to try and try harder.

2019 marked her first appearance with a solo music product, the song "I'm not a chess piece", which is the theme song of the movie Vampire Master. However, the product has not made a strong impression on the audience. At the end of that year, she continued to release her second song called "Old with me if I also want to be old with you", the song received positive feedback from the public, many covers were performed and shared on social networks, marking a significant first step in her music career.

Towards the beginning of 2022, Hien Mai released the song "Most needed, people disappear" – a ballad with a slightly sad sound, released and distributed exclusively on Tui's Music platform. The MV was made entirely in the studio due to the epidemic situation, but still retains its poetic and pure look. In the MV, the image of loneliness full of mood and sadness seems to be clearly expressed through real eyes and tears. This is also the first time she filmed a crying scene, which made her deeply feel the ingenuity and effort of the actor when penetrating into the emotional state to act.

She shared about the message of the song that even though "when you need it most, you will disappear, but you will be fine" – she wants to convey that although she loves with all her heart and is disappointed, she believes that good things are still waiting ahead, and even if love is gone, that experience is still cherished.

2022 is also the time when she implemented a project in collaboration with rapper B Ray and hotgirl Vu Phung Tien in the MV "Wish", directed by Ton That Vu – Kevin Thai and American producer "fueled by boba". The song is built on the idea of the "Five Stages of Grief", the emotion of rejection – resentment – agreement – depression – acceptance, and "Wish" is the acceptance stage, where the character in the song has overcome the trauma to heal and continue the new journey.

Change of stage name and important move

Not stopping there, on October 17, 2023, she officially announced the change of her stage name from "Quinn Hien Mai" to MAIQUIN, marking an important shift in her image and musical path. Along with that, she launched the project "Cover Live Session" on the occasion of Vietnamese Women's Day 20/10, with the content of familiar hit covers that are carefully invested in terms of concept, perspective and music.

The first episode of the Live Session project is the cover of "Rain falls silently" on the evening of October 20, which she shows with a mature, delicate demeanor, with a sense of independence and more experience in expressing emotions.

Her previous products – such as "Twelve Years of School" and "Van Tho" – have not made a big mark, but they have been a necessary experiment to build a personal style.

Throughout the journey, from a dynamic girl in Phu Tho, to a military art school, then The Voice, then Nam Tien and now MAIQUIN – the image of a female singer with personality, maturity, independence and emotions – every step she takes reflects a persistent desire for music. Hien Mai once shared that a gentle and feminine image used to be her mark in the past, but from 2022 onwards, she wants to build a bold and stronger image in both music and fashion style.

On her artistic journey, she also always strives to improve herself, dare to challenge herself with writing and acting – like the crying scene in the MV – and is still cherishing making her own album, even wishing to organize a personal liveshow in the future.
