The reason why Ms. Dam My Kim filed for bankruptcy was not disclosed, it could be due to debt and inability to pay. However, the current situation of Anita Mui's mother does not receive sympathy from the public at home, they even sarcastically say that she is receiving retribution for what she did in the past.

It is known that Dam My Kim was addicted to gambling and when Anita Mui was still alive, she had to help her pay off huge debts. In 2003, the "Asian Madonna" discovered she had cervical cancer and before she died, she made a will to handle her assets.

In addition to a small portion of the estate for her close friend and grandchildren, the remaining 100 million HKD (about 320 billion VND) was also transferred by Anita Mui to a trust fund. This fund will follow the queen's will, transferring 70,000 HKD (about 224 million VND) to her mother every month for living expenses, until she passes away.

In 2012, the singer's mother had to file for bankruptcy because she could not pay the legal fees of 2.3 million HKD (about 7.36 billion VND) related to the lawsuit and the trust had to handle this on her behalf.

In 2016, using the excuse of having to travel the world to "heal", Ms. Dam My Kim asked the trust fund for 800,000 HKD (about 2.56 billion VND) but failed. Some time later, she asked the trust fund to transfer her 71 million HKD (about 227 billion VND) to cover living expenses for the next 15 years.

When the request was not met, Dam My Kim continued to sue the trust fund and asked this unit to compensate her up to 1.5 billion HKD (about 4,800 billion VND). And this time, Anita Mui's mother could not win the lawsuit either.

By 2022, the singer’s brother, Mai Khoi Minh, revealed that the amount of money that Ms. Dam My Kim received had increased to 250,000 HKD (about 800 million VND) - a number that ordinary people would not dare to dream of. Because of her bottomless greed, she still did not feel satisfied and filed lawsuits many times to get back all of her daughter’s assets but failed.

It is worth mentioning that not only Mrs. Dam My Kim, but Mai Khoi Minh also lived off the money that Anita Mui left behind. When he had a dispute with his biological mother to the point of disowning her, he immediately sold all of his sister's belongings to get money to support his life. For the past 20 years, this man has not had a proper job and has only thought of ways to get the late star's fortune.

Baijiahao website reported that after more than 2 decades of being squandered by her biological mother, Anita Mui's assets are gradually depleted. Currently, Tan Mei-jin is 101 years old and still healthy, but the future is very unpredictable. Because if she continues to spend lavishly, I'm afraid that when the assets her daughter left behind are gone, no one will care for her life anymore.
