Thailand's Madam Pang challenges the Vietnamese team, determined to "claim the debt" in 2025?

Siamsport said that the President of the Football Federation of Thailand (FAT), Madam Pang , wants to invite Vietnam to participate in the tournament in 2025. This is one of the oldest tournaments in the land of the Golden Pagoda.

"We want to invite Vietnam, the team that just won the 2024 ASEAN Cup , to participate in the 2025 King's Cup. They can help us succeed with the campaign to bring the tournament to the provinces, formerly Chiang Mai and most recently Songkhla province. This trend should be maintained."

Instead of focusing on competing at the Rajamangala National Stadium, Thailand expects to bring the King's Cup to smaller venues to increase its attraction. Supachalasai Stadium is the place to be targeted.

This is a stadium founded in 1937, which is interested by FIFA and is ready to support funding to upgrade this year. According to Siamsport, this figure is about 100 million baht (more than 73 billion VND).

"Supachalasai is an 18,000-seat stadium, in the center of Bangkok and is of interest to FIFA. I hope it is capable of hosting the King's Cup," Madam Pang said.

However, Madam Pang is not sure that Vietnam will agree to attend. In the 2024 King's Cup, coach Kim Sang-sik did not participate in the tournament. In addition to the host Thailand, the three guest teams include Tajikistan, Syria and the Philippines. The "War Elephants" are the champions after defeating Syria 2-1 in the final.

The Vietnamese team participated in the 2019 King's Cup and defeated Thailand 1-0 in the semifinals with Anh Duc's only goal. However, the team received defeat against Curacao on penalties in the final and received the runner-up position.

The time and venue of the 2025 King's Cup has not yet been determined. This is a friendly tournament with a long tradition of football in the land of the Golden Temple, starting in 1968.

Previously, striker Nguyen Xuan Son of the Vietnamese team was seriously injured in the 34th minute in the second leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup final against Thailand on January 5. The doctors decided on the surgical method of combining closed bones with intramedullary nails with pins under the brightening screen. It is a minimally invasive surgical solution that minimizes soft tissue damage and ensures a quick recovery.

Xuan Son was operated on starting at 8:18 p.m. By 21:43, the surgery was completed. According to the doctor, the surgery inserted a 38cm nail along Xuan Son's leg, not an open operation. The surgery was a great success.

After the surgery, Xuan Son was visited by the leaders of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), coaches, assistants and many players and wished him a return to the top competition soon.

According to the doctor's assessment, if the training process to recover from surgery goes smoothly, then in about 8-9 months, Nguyen Xuan Son can compete again.
