The news that Madam Pang paid for the hospital fees of striker Nguyen Xuan Son after his injury has attracted attention, especially from Vietnamese fans. However, after the VFF spoke up, this information caused controversy, causing the public to raise big questions about this.
The second leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup final between Vietnam and Thailand on January 5, 2024 at Rajamangala Stadium witnessed an unexpected incident. Nguyen Xuan Son, the main striker of the Vietnamese team, suffered a serious injury in the 32nd minute. He was immediately taken to a hospital in Bangkok for an MRI scan and health check. Doctors provided first aid to Xuan Son and then consulted with the Vietnamese medical team.
At this time, a surprising piece of information was released from Thai newspapers, including CH7. Accordingly, FAT President, Madam Pang, directly paid all hospital expenses for Xuan Son during his treatment in Thailand.
This is a piece of information that has attracted great attention and quickly spread on the media as well as social networks. Vietnamese fans have expressed their gratitude and given many compliments to Madam Pang, considering this a beautiful act, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity and friendship between the two countries.
However, after positive reactions from the public, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has officially spoken out on this issue, clarifying the truth behind the information about hospital fees. At a press conference on January 10, VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu affirmed that the payment of hospital fees for Xuan Son during his treatment in Thailand is entirely the responsibility of the host country's Organizing Committee, according to the regulations of the ASEAN Cup 2024.
Mr. Phu explained that according to the tournament's procedures, if a player is injured during the match, the injured team's medical team will provide first aid. After that, the host country's Organizing Committee will be responsible for medical services, including providing ambulances, stretchers and taking the player to the hospital for emergency treatment. This applies not only to the match in Thailand but also to all venues hosting matches within the framework of the ASEAN Cup 2024.
"There is no way Madam Pang will pay for Xuan Son's expenses. This is the responsibility of the host organization according to the general regulations of the tournament. VFF will cover all treatment costs for Xuan Son when he returns to Vietnam," Mr. Phu emphasized.
He also shared that VFF has coordinated with medical facilities in Vietnam to ensure Xuan Son receives the best care and treatment since returning home, and all treatment costs will be covered by VFF and sponsors.
After VFF spoke up to clarify the truth, public opinion changed significantly. Some fans felt disappointed because the information about Madam Pangâs noble actions was not entirely accurate. However, many people still believed that this was just an unfortunate misunderstanding and there was no need to be too harsh.
On social media, a debate broke out between Madam Pangâs supporters and those who agreed with VFF. Many people said that the mediaâs inaccurate reporting had diminished the value of the noble act that Madam Pang wanted to demonstrate. Many people also questioned whether this was a PR stunt to enhance Madam Pangâs personal image or just a mistake in the information transmission process.
While VFF clearly affirmed its responsibility to pay Xuan Sonâs hospital fees, the initial information about Madam Pang caused misunderstanding and created controversy among the public. Is this a media trick or just an unfortunate misunderstanding?
