Ms. Le Thi Thuan, 75 years old, has two daughters, but one of them got married and had to follow her husband for many years without returning. She lives with her second daughter (33 years old, employed at Ba Chieu market) in a temporary house built with a corrugated iron roof since 1999 on a small land allocated by the state. All furniture in the house is old, the roof is leaking, damaged. When the rainy season comes, the water rises, the house is flooded because the floor is lower than the road. Water overflowed and carried garbage and insects into her house, all night both mother and daughter sat and waited for the water to recede, but could not do anything more. 54 years, she sells breakfast food from noodles, pho, braised beef etc. She was helped by people to set up a table in front of her house to sell without taking money. Every day she earns about 250,000, using the money to go to the market, pay electricity and water bills. Submitting the application to the program, Ms. Thuan wants to have the capital to upgrade the soup pot, buy new tables and chairs because the furniture is old and damaged. The remaining money will be used to repair the roof, to prevent leaks and to upgrade the terrace if there is any left over.

She confided that she herself went to the market, cooked, and if it was sold out, her guests would serve themselves. "Customers also love me very much, eating a bowl of 30,000 often gives me an extra 10 thousand to 40,000. I've been selling for 54 years, many of my customers from childhood to now are still eating. I work hard, From 2:00 a.m., I moved out to sell at night to customers, and then from morning to noon, from noon to afternoon. I sell all day, but usually I sell at night because it's too sunny during the day. There is a hospital I should give. I've been sitting at the door for decades. Stealing my wallet means I'm miserable, but I'm blessed with good health, I just don't have money. I'm old, but I still sell goods regularly, the last time I got Covid, it was still okay. I'm very poor, only have a corrugated iron roof, but it's all rotten. My house is low and small like a pigpen. I can't stand. I used to rent a house under a bridge, the government felt sorry for me, so I gave the land to live. But my house is very old and dilapidated and I don't have money to fix it."

After confiding about her situation, she presented to Ly Nha Ky about her plans to use the 30 million VND to start a business, including buying kitchens, plastic tables and chairs, glass cabinets, utensils... With a business mind, Ly Nha Ky quickly calculated and was surprised when she saw that the amount of money for Mrs. Thuan to invest in furniture for sale was 6 million, so she asked the guest how much capital she wanted to ask. Mrs. Thuan shyly revealed that she wanted to ask Ly Nha Ky 30 million to pay off debt in addition to buying things. Ly Nha Ky thought for a moment and said: "You are a special case of this program. My goal is to provide capital to support business investment, not to repay debt, but because I love her, I love her. She still agreed to give 30 million.
