Blink around the world is spreading the #Respect Lisa tag after Lisa became a victim of racism from a group of netizens calling themselves Blink.
In the series of screenshots, many crude comments about Lisa can be seen simply because she is Thai. The Chinese group Blink, identified by name and photo, insulted Lisa's appearance by calling her Ladyboy, a word commonly used in Thailand to refer to transgender people.
In another series of chats, this time from a Turkish community, some people can be seen disparaging Lisa's skills and then turning to insult her race.
Some typical comments in the chat:
"Go and live with the Thais!"
"Parents gave her a body like a man."
"Her physique is like a man's."
"Fans think she's classy."
"I'm afraid she can't sing."
"Her face is so ugly when she sings."
The claims go as far as slander. They continue to insult and belittle Lisa's success, but the conversation goes from bad to worse:
"No one cared about the Lisa back in the day."
"I don't know what Lisa did to be as popular as she is now. At first, she wasn't popular, but now everyone cares about her."
"Rose dances much better than she does. She must have done something to be lifted up."
"I don't know with whom she sleeps or hangs out, but it's definitely not okay."
"And Lisa is Thai, I don't want to be racist, but Thailand is real trash."
After these messages went viral, the #Respect Lisa tag ranked 3rd trending in the world and especially 1st in Thailand, Philippine Poland and Vietnam. There are also some other hastags like #StopRacism or #SaynotoRacism are also used.
In fact, this is not the first time Lisa has been attacked for being Thai when she became a K-Pop Idol. However, most of the BLINKs and other members of the BLACKPINK group stood up to protect Lisa, as well as warn those who made the above offensive statements.
At the 33rd Golden Disc Awards, Lisa (BLACKPINK) also received many negative comments, even curses from the Netizens community. Most of them are aiming for Lisa's original nationality, which is Thailand, and some even think that Lisa only looks attractive because of her Korean makeup.
Many fans and celebrities have defended Lisa, including Jennie. Not long after the awards ceremony, BLACKPINK held a concert at Lisa's hometown in Bangkok, Thailand. In front of the entire audience, Jennie said that they should feel proud of Lisa, and that no matter what, the other members will always protect her.
Many believe that these words of Jennie are a response to the negative comments Lisa received at the Golden Disc Awards.
In the past few days, Blackpink's first online concert titled THE SHOW has resonated with fans around the world. In fact, the girls' success is huge when bringing in more than 10 billion Won in revenue for the management company.
Co-hosted by Youtube Music and YG Entertainment, THE SHOW is Blackpink's first online concert and also the opening performance of YG Palm Stage's new concert series. After announcing the online concert in early December last year and having to postpone the schedule due to the impact of Covid-19, Blackpink finally treated fans to a satisfying event on January 31, 2021. In true Blackpink style, THE SHOW is full of unforgettable moments. The most anticipated performance can definitely belong to Rosé who first released the solo song "Gone". Meanwhile, Jennie surprised when she rewrote a brand new rap part for her hit song SOLO.
The eldest sister Jisoo surprised BLINKs with her performance of the song Habits (Stay High) with the full Korean version. And everyone is looking forward to a solo performance of the youngest Lisa when the Thai beauty explodes on stage with Say So.
Despite possessing a super-invested stage quality, Blackpink's THE SHOW is still being complained by fans because it's... too short! The concert lasted just 90 minutes, though it's not surprising that BLINKs around the world rushed to buy tickets. And this has been proven through the incredible sales that the 4 girls have earned.
Specifically, Blackpink has "sold out" 280,000 tickets, surpassing the record number of 205,000 tickets sold by 4 girls at last year's Japan Dome Tour in Japan.
With ticket prices ranging from 36,000 Won (about 32.20 USD) to 48,000 won (about 43 USD) depending on whether fans want to receive additional special benefits such as behind-the-scenes videos,... THE SHOW ended up making an amazing profit of 10 billion Won (about 8.95 million USD).
In addition, YG Entertainment has noted that this number does not even include concert sales. According to media estimates, the sales of Blackpink's THE SHOW's merchandise is likely to raise their total revenue to 15 Won (about 13.4 million USD).
Despite possessing surprisingly few songs, but with extremely high quality, Blackpink continues to affirm the position of the leading girl group in K-pop, even the leading girl group in the world today when it is difficult for any name to have a name. can surpass the series of great achievements that the 4 girls have achieved so far!
