Tough childhood and the journey to becoming a peach

Artist Kieu Mai Ly (real name Nguyen Thi Ly) was born in 1949 in a poor family with many children. She has 9 siblings and all live with her parents, except for her. The female artist said, when she was about one year old, her mother became pregnant with her step-sister. One night, my mother dreamed that she fell dead in the river, so she was very confused. Then, not knowing who to listen to, her parents decided to let her be adopted by a barren couple in the neighborhood, deciding that after giving birth, they would pick her up. However, after spending time with her adoptive parents and being loved to the fullest, Kieu Mai Ly did not want to return to her old home.

Living with her adoptive parents, Kieu Mai Ly is deeply loved. However, because the family is poor, every time they go to the market to sell goods, grandparents often carry the female artist with them. Kieu Mai Ly herself also understood the story very early. When she was 7-8 years old, she knew how to help her parents. Late at night, she got up early to walk from home to Ba Chieu market to get vermicelli and vegetables to sell to her parents, even though she fell asleep many times. Then when her parents switched to selling fish porridge, the female artist also enthusiastically helped with the dishes. When she was 10 years old, she said her parents made her 2 buckets to carry water for her family. The female artist also hires to have money to buy a new pair of sandals. However, after a month, she was cheated out of her salary. Remembering those days, Kieu Mai Ly smiled and said, "Because I carried a lot of water at that time, I was short."

Despite her small stature, in return, Kieu Mai Ly has a clear and smooth voice. She said that when she was in high school, there was a communal house near Ha Huy Tap school, which was the "capital" of the Thanh Huong - Hung Minh delegation. Because of her passion for reform, she would run out every afternoon to "sit in the field" for two or three hours just to watch the opera. At home, she imitated artist Thanh Huong singing the song She sells paper flowers. The brother-in-law saw that the female artist had a beautiful voice, so he took her to see teacher Nam Dong, who teaches the art of Don Ca Tai Tu, to learn to sing. Thanks to her intelligence, Kieu Mai Ly is sure to get there wherever she goes. After a while, the teacher took her to perform and gave her the stage name Kieu Mai Ly. At the age of 16, during a wedding song, her singing caught the attention of the manager of the Hoa Xuan Minh Ha troupe and from there appeared a main actress.

A year after the group disbanded, Kieu Mai Ly thought that her career had reached a dead end when coincidentally, artist Minh Canh established a new group and was also looking for a female singer. So Kieu Mai Ly joined with a salary of 40,000 VND, a huge amount that her family never dreamed of. "Ke" the aura of artist Minh Canh, she quickly became a famous princess of Saigon. However, the female artist only worked for 4 months and then transferred to Da Ly Huong group with a contract of up to 350,000 VND. The female guest recalled: "At that time, the group was full of talented artists such as Ms. Bach Tuyet, Ms. Ngoc Giau, Ms. Mai Lan, Ms. Hong Nga, Ms. Kim Ngoc, Ms. Phuong Lien. Fate with comedy from acting like that

Originally a reformed artist, Kieu Mai Ly is also known as a comedian, theater, television and film actress. This encroachment stems from her reluctant "substitutes" and her eagerness to learn. The female guest said that when she was singing with the Da Ly Huong troupe, artist Hong Nga specialized in treating "deaching". During a time when a colleague was on maternity leave, she was forced to take her place. The comedy group at that time including Bao Quoc, Huong Huyen, Chi Hieu, Kieu Mai Ly... won the first prize with the Reluctant Husband. It was also the beginning of the golden age of comedy in HCMC.

In 1982, HTV launched the program Indoor Street, broadcast every Thursday night, becoming an indispensable spiritual dish of the people. At this time, Kieu Mai Ly and artists like Bao Quoc, Hong Van, Kim Xuan... had the opportunity to shine again, becoming the main characters of the show. The roles of artist Kieu Mai Ly are mostly fierce, but in real life she is very cheerful, loves life and is friendly with everyone. The female artist wittily said: "People are so kind that they want to die!".

Although bringing a lot of laughter to the audience, the life of artist Kieu Mai Ly is quite difficult. Childhood was difficult, just got a name in the profession, then got married. Supported by her husband's love to open her own group, but due to the times, the group was withdrawn. From well-to-do, the couple suddenly became empty-handed. Trauma gave her many domestic roles and "expensive shows" overseas for the couple to rebuild. The happy family was not long, when in 2006, he fell ill and left her mother and daughter. Kieu Mai Ly and her daughter rely on each other until now.

Sharing about her late husband, artist Kieu Mai Ly said: "My husband was also a rich man in the past, but when her husband lost his position, a loud voice she did not dare to speak. If people said that she was afraid of her husband, she was afraid of her husband. When people are at the top, I want everything they give me, but when people fall, they start to be proud of what they have.

So even if I speak a little harshly, people will feel offended, and very sad. Because of that, when her husband lost her position, she never spoke harshly, and did not blame anything. That's it, she and her husband went from poverty until today to have a cozy home, she is very grateful to her husband, that is co-husband."

Currently, at the age of 73, she is still roaming the streets of Saigon with her daughter, going to the film set, going to the stage, continuing to devote herself to the arts. That is the only and biggest passion in the life of the female artist. She always wished that the reformation in particular and the stage in general would always be preserved and developed.
