"Han Thai Tu is the person who takes care of my husband's funeral in the US, so I always keep in touch with him so that when he calls, he will answer the phone immediately. He also promised to call facetime so I could see my husband's face one last time. So I waited for his phone every minute. That day, after Mr. Tu sent my husband's obituary to me, he stopped texting me.At that moment, on my Viber (online calling - messaging application) suddenly. There appeared a text message from a person claiming to be Han Thai Tu, who texted me: 'Lan, your other phone's battery is dead', so I didn't take any precautions to continue the story. What's up, I'm guessing you're using two phones."

Talking about being scammed into transferring 100 million, Linh Lan shared: "The person impersonating Han Thai Tu told me that he would directly fly back to Vietnam to deliver the ashes and money from friends to help my family. This person asked me to find and book a plane ticket from the US to Vietnam in the next few days. I said I was not good at booking tickets, he immediately gave me the phone number of a ticket seller. The ticket seller said that there was only 1 ticket left, the cost of flying from the US to Vietnam was 25 million, and the round trip was 36 million. I agreed to book a round-trip ticket, then I transferred the money as required.

At this time, the person impersonating Mr. Han Thai Tu said that he would return this money to me. However, I said that he had helped the family too much so I did not accept it, but the fake person refused to accept it. After that, the fake Han Thai Tu asked me to buy him 2 more tickets, I contacted the flight ticketing service, the other person also said that 2 guests had just canceled their tickets, so I booked. A total of 3 flight tickets cost 108 million VND, but the limit I can transfer every day is only 100 million, so I transfer 100 million in advance. At that time, my mind was only thinking about seeing my husband again without warning.

The person impersonating singer Han Thai Tu said that he would return me the amount of 3 plane tickets at 4 pm (Vietnam time), but I waited for more than 5 hours and still did not receive it, so I started to doubt. At this time, I called directly to the other number but could not get through. I went back to call Han Thai Tu's original number but he didn't answer the phone, I thought he was sleeping so I continued to wait. After that, I also asked my friends to contact Han Thai Tu. At around 7 pm (Vietnam time), Mr. Tu called me back and said he didn't know anything about plane tickets. Only then did I know that I was deceived, that was a fake nick."

After discovering the incident, singer Han Thai Tu advised his wife Van Quang Long to calm down and save all evidence. Linh Lan said the authorities have investigated the incident with signs of this fraud. At the same time, the late wife of singer Van Quang Long also sent a message to the fake: "The amount of 100 million is not small, I sent a message saying that the fake person transferred it to me, I will ignore it and consider this matter. But now, if the bad guy does not know how to repent and correct his mistakes, the authorities will clarify and handle according to the law, the information of the account holder receiving the money has been found out."
