Jisoo (BLACKPINK) comeback failed miserably, results were disappointing

At 12:00 on February 14 (Vietnam time), Kpop idol Jisoo ( Blackpink) returned with the mini album "Amortage", including 2 Korean songs "Earthquake", " Tears" and 2 English songs "Your Love", "Hugs & Kisses".

In particular, the title song "Earthquake" has its official MV released on YouTube. Returning to the music scene after nearly 2 years since the single album "Me" and MV "Flower" released in March 2023, Jisoo has been actively promoting the mini album "Amortage".

She has posted trailer videos and many theme images for the songs in the album. The MV "Earthquake" was released on Valentine's Day so it is highly anticipated.

However, the debut performance of the title track "Earthquake" in Korea was not as expected. After 1 hour of release, "Earthquake" only ranked 73rd on the Bugs chart and 242nd on Genie, unable to enter the top domestic chart - Melon Top 100.

The first hour achievement of "Earthquake" is far behind the song "Flower" with 6th place on Bugs, 10th place on Genie and 16th place on Melon Top 100. At the same time, Jisoo's new song, although a Korean song, its debut ranking in Korea is even lower than Rosé's English song "Number one gir.l" (43rd place on Melon, 17th place on Genie, 5th place on Bugs).

The MV "Earthquake" depicts the uncontrollable emotion of love as it takes over a person's heart and mind. The MV is invested in visuals, story and choreography. Notably, actor Cha Seung Won - a former colleague of YG Entertainment - participated in Jisoo's MV.

In the MV Earthquake, Jisoo plays an office worker whose tiring day at work suddenly becomes brighter when the person she loves appears. The simple but emotional plot, combined with beautiful images and sophisticated filming style, helps the MV bring a sense of intimacy but no less attractive.

Not only investing in the visuals, Jisoo also brought an impressive dance performance. The chorus with simple but extremely attractive movements, combined with the singer's attractive expressions, made the MV easily go viral on social networking platforms.

However, after the broadcast, some fans quickly realized that the background rhythm of the chorus of Earthquake was somewhat reminiscent of Flower, creating many controversial debates. Some people thought that Jisoo had cleverly chosen a song with a highlight that was easy to attract from the first listen, similar to what she did with Flower. On the contrary, some other opinions said that the female singer should have chosen another song on the EP as the title track, because many of the remaining tracks had newer musical colors.

On forums, audiences have mixed reviews about the MV "Earthquake". Many opinions say that "Earthquake" has a vibrant, catchy bea.t. However, Jisoo's rough vocals and unimpressive processing techniques have reduced the song's appeal.

After releasing the mini album, Jisoo will hold her first solo fan meeting tour called "Lights, Love, Action!", stopping in 7 cities in Asia throughout 2025.

Recently, the first two episodes of the movie Newtopia starring Jisoo aired. In it, Jisoo plays the main role alongside actor Park Jung Min. This is the second time the Blackpink member has tried her hand at cinema, after the TV project Snowdrop.

However, the audience did not have a positive response to Jisoo's role. The 30-year-old beauty was criticized by some for her acting and unnatural dialogue. Besides, there were also comments that she expressed too much, and her performance in the emotional scenes was not really natural.

However, there are also opinions defending Jisoo, explaining that, compared to the previous project, the acting of the eldest member of Blackpink has improved a lot, especially the ability to act with her eyes.
