Rosé hangs out in the US without practicing, gets condemned by the whole world, worries BTS will 'surpass' her

On July 5 and 6, BLACKPINK officially opened their new tour called DEADLINE with two spectacular concert nights at Goyang Stadium, Seoul, Korea.
According to domestic media, both concerts were sold out and recorded an audience of up to 78,000 people - an impressive number, especially for a Kpop girl group.
With a record number of attendees, Goyang Stadium was expected to explode like a "fire pan" due to the enthusiasm of the fans. However, the unexpected happened when BLACKPINK - the girls who are famous for their explosive and energetic performance style - had to personally call on the audience to interact more throughout the show.
Specifically, during the fan interaction, Jennie did not hesitate to share her feelings about the somewhat quiet atmosphere of the concert night. She said:
"Usually the second day of a concert is more lively, people get into the atmosphere more. But today it seems like everyone is just sitting and watching. What's going on?"
Jennieâs statement quickly received attention from both the audience and the online community. The unusual silence seemed to make the members feel a bit confused. Following Jennie, Rosé also shared frankly:
"There are too many cameras here. I'll ask everyone to put them down a bit later. Take as many pictures as you want for now, but remember to put them down later. Promise. If you don't keep your promise, I'll be angry!"
Not stopping there, Jisoo - the oldest member of the group - also spoke up to encourage the audience to stand up and "burn" with the group, especially when BLACKPINK performed a completely new song called JUMP.
"This is the first place you'll hear JUMP. This song means let's jump together. So everyone, come jump with us!"
On social media platforms, this moment quickly became a hot topic of discussion. Although BLACKPINK maintained their top performance, showing their dedication to each performance, the somewhat quiet attitude from the audience left many disappointed. Some opinions even compared Goyang Stadium that night to a "dead sea" because of the lack of excitement and response from the audience.
The international fan community immediately expressed mixed opinions. Many people think that Korean audiences are too "introverted" when attending concerts but do not clearly express their emotions or interact with the artists. Some Vietnamese fans even "invited" BLACKPINK to perform in Vietnam to feel the "partying" spirit of Vietnamese fans. On the contrary, there are also opinions defending, saying that each country has a different culture of enjoying concerts, and it is not necessary to shout or dance along to support the artists.
It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time BLACKPINK has encountered a similar situation at home. Previously, during the concert ending the BORN PINK tour in Seoul in September 2023, Lisa frankly told the audience:
"It seems like BLINKs are really shy. Are you guys embarrassed? I wish everyone could dance a little more. Can you dance, BLINKs?"
This statement also caused a stir at the time, when many clips showed that the audience mostly just sat still and held their phones to record instead of really immersing themselves in the concert atmosphere. Jennie even jokingly said in another performance:
"I see more phones than your faces."
Moments like these continue to fuel debates about how Korean audiences perceive K-pop concertsâespecially the energetic, interactive stages. While many concerts abroad are filled with singing, clapping, dancing, and socializing, concerts in Koreaâespecially with fans focused on filming videosâcan sometimes feel cold.
However, BLACKPINK's peak appeal cannot be denied when both DEADLINE nights in Seoul were successful in terms of scale and organization. The group continued to affirm its position as a "wall" of Kpop when it was able to sell out tickets in a flash, while attracting attention from domestic and foreign media.
The issue of audience interaction at concerts is perhaps not just BLACKPINK's story, but a bigger picture of the change in the way fans approach and enjoy music in modern times - where smartphones sometimes become an invisible barrier between artists and viewers.
