Korean media constantly raised questions about Jennie accidentally saying bad words while participating in a variety show with senior Yoo Jae Suk. The director of the show has also officially spoken out about the idol.
On the morning of March 1, Korean media reported that Jennie ( BLACKPINK) was suspected of making obscene statements in front of National MC Yoo Jae Suk and the star cast when having the opportunity to appear on the TV show Apartment 404.
Specifically, these suspicions were initiated from animations shared widely across the forums of kimchi in the past 1 week.
In the clip, after finishing the sentence, Jennie immediately appeared extremely panicked, she quickly covered her mouth with her hand as if she had just uttered 1 inappropriate word. It was also from here that rumors of the BLACKPINK goddess splashing on television surfaced and were spread throughout Korean social media.
Faced with these questions, the Apartment 404 crew recently officially spoke out about Jennie's profanity. Accordingly, director Jung Chul Min tried to reassure the audience: "At that time, Jennie and the cast participated in 1 game. It seems that the singer is a little uncomfortable. If Jennie finds the scene wrong, she can ask the production team to edit it and cut it. But she didn't. At first glance, it looks like the singer has splashed. But it's actually just a funny scene. Don't worry. Rest assured, it's going to be interesting."
Not only the director but also fans quickly flooded in to vindicate the idol, as well as released a clip showing that the rapper Black Huong did not splash profanity on the show.
In addition, in a recent conversation, director Jung also praised the BLACKPINK member's personality: "Jennie takes good care of the staff in the crew. The singer is my dear friend. We've stayed in touch since our collaboration on Village Survival, The Eight. Her biggest attraction is her innocence."
Directed by director Jung Chul Min of the hit variety show "Sixth Sense," Apartment 404 is a reality variety show set in an apartment in which there are a total of 6 residents.
Here, they will have to find out the truth behind the extraordinary events that happened at their residence. In addition to Jennie, the show also stars Yoo Jae Suk, Lee Jung Ha, Cha Tae Hyun, Oh Na Ra, and Yang Se Chan.
Since Apartment 404 marks Jennie's first permanent variety show since "Village Survival, the Eight," the BLACKPINK member has received attention from the media and audience.
Jennie also shared when it was first announced that she would be joining Apartment 404: "I usually like investigative stories and I decided to join the show after hearing that the cast and staff I like will be working together.
Since this is my first variety show in a long time, I thought it would be a great gift for the fans."
Episode 1 of Apartment 404 recorded a 2.7% rating, not a bad start compared to the 1% figure in the first episode of its predecessor Nana Tour with SEVENTEEN. But that's a bit tiny compared to Seojin's Kitchen's 8.8%, which airs at the same time in 2023.
However, Apartment 404 has only aired one episode, it is too early to judge success or failure at the moment. The show still has a long way to go to prove its appeal to audiences.
