She won the Gold Medal at the District level and the Excellent Prize at the City level when participating in the program "Singing teachers and students" in the Education sector in the 1998-1999 school year.

At the age of 8, Hoang Yen Chibi started participating in cultural activities at Children's House in Ba Dinh district. Thanks to that, Vietnam Television discovered her artistic talent, so she asked Hoang Yen Chibi's parents to let her participate in the program Little Star of Childhood broadcast on VTV1.

At the age of 10, Hoang Yen was trained in dance and singing. At the age of 14, she and her friends released the children's music VCD album "Flying Dolls to Dreams", marking a milestone of adulthood. Hoang Yen and the children's group The Children's Cultural House in Ba Dinh district used to perform in many large and small music shows in Hanoi.

One of the events that affected Hoang Yen Chibi was her parents' divorce when she was 18 years old. The singer recalled:

"My 18th birthday, my father and mother divorced. I always thought that the family would forever be complete like that for the rest of my life. And I received the first shock of my life.

At that time, I sat and thought for a while. The night before, our family gathered to eat together as usual. The scene was very ordinary: Dad still drank small wine next to him, Mom and Dad talked and laughed happily with the children... But the next morning, our parents told us that we were going to get a divorce.

Later, I realized that I was too carefree, becoming careless. My parents never raised their voices to each other in front of their children, but the story has been dormant for a long time. I didn't realize my parents' feelings. I'm with my mom every day...

After that, I changed part of my personality. I care more about others, sometimes even forget about myself."

Hoang Yen Chibi confided that she was shocked at the breakup of her parents, but tried to overcome it because she was an optimist.

"I used to have a happy childhood with them. I remember the image of the whole family riding together on a motorbike to watch fireworks, or my mother cooking rice, I studying, my father watching TV... I always wished to film. At that time, living a carefree life without having to deal with too much pressure of life," the singer shared on Vnexpress.

After many years of living with her mother and cold war with her father, by 2021, Hoang Yen Chibi will talk normally with her father again. "It wasn't until October 2021 that I really accepted that my family couldn't go back to the way it was before. My father had a new family.
