Recently, Bui Quynh Hoa had a trip to visit and give clean water and gifts to people in saltwater drought areas in Ben Tre province. The queen personally carried each 20-liter bucket of water to the people of Thanh Phuoc commune, Binh Dai district, Ben Tre province.

Recently, Miss Universe Vietnam 2023 Bui Quynh Hoa came to Thanh Phuoc commune, Ben Tre province to give 500 water bottles and 500 cash gifts to people suffering from salt restrictions. Over the past time, due to the prolonged drought situation, saltwater intrusion has caused people here to be extremely short of drinking water and domestic water.

The beauty in simple clothes, enthusiastically visited relatives as well as distributed water bottles, gifts to each person. It is known that right from the early morning, a large number of people were present at the People's Committee of Thanh Phuoc commune to wait to receive water. The image of relatives rejoicing when receiving each bottle of water made Bui Quynh Hoa emotional.

"I feel happy to be able to share a little heart, to timely support people in the prolonged scarcity of fresh water. I hope more people will join hands to help people overcome this difficult period," she shared.

Over the past time, early and prolonged drought and salinity in the Mekong Delta (Mekong Delta) has caused immediate and long-term harm.

According to the forecast, there will be another increase in saltwater intrusion on May 7-12. Rivers, especially Vam Co Dong and Vam Co West, are forecast to penetrate saltwater into depths of 80-100km. The Tien and Hau river systems are about 45-55km deep.

This year's rainy season in the Mekong Delta will come late, starting from around the end of May to the beginning of June. So only when it comes to the rainy season will the salinity drought end.

According to experts, it is very worrying that this year La Nina is likely to appear around the peak of the rainy and typhoon season in the Central region. Therefore, this area is likely to see more storms, heavy rains, floods than usual.

Therefore, local authorities need to be ready to prepare plans to respond to extreme rains and floods that may occur continuously, which may cause widespread waterlogging, including urban areas, industrial parks, etc. in Central. Especially, mountainous areas in Central Vietnam have just experienced drought due to the El Nino phenomenon with a lack of soil cohesion when encountering heavy rains, the risk of flash floods and landslides is very high.
