On July 14, 2015, Minh Hieu, then 25 years old, was tried by a US court and sentenced to 13 years in prison.

Although he has not been back to Vietnam for a long time, he has been contributing to the network security system with the Anti-Phishing website. At the same time, he is also working at the National Cyber Security Monitoring Center (NCSC), becoming a cybersecurity expert with many shared interests.
