After more than 2 hours of closed hearing, the jury announced that it would continue to adjourn the trial until the afternoon of August 9 to verify some information and evidence provided by both of them. Ye Linying said the reason: "The jury probably wishes that the 2 parties could reach an agreement with each other. At this trial, both my ex-husband and I had aspirations to raise our two children. They're both very young."

Also at the appeal hearing last month, Ye Linying expressed his wishes: "In court, I said that it is always better for me to be a mother who takes care of children, and my ex-husband said that his conditions are better. So I also have the question: 'Aren't all mothers in the world who are not as good as their husbands, going through divorce, then the father will get custody of the children?'"
