Once the most powerful "tycoon" in showbiz, Diddy is now unbelievably depressed. On the first day of the trial, the male rapper even revealed his unstable state, admitting that he was worried.
On May 5 (US time), the trial of music star Sean Combs (stage name Diddy) took place and attracted the attention of the media. According to the Independent's source, the male rapper wore a blue sweater and white shirt when he went to court. He was commented to have changed a lot in appearance after nearly 1 year of detention, revealing gray hair and a rather worried face. The Independent wrote: "The famous man in the music world is now weak. His hair was gray. He even admitted that he was worried."
According to People, in the middle of the trial, Diddy asked Judge Subramanian to let him go to the bathroom. Initially, the judge refused because he wanted to continue the jury selection process. But then agreed and allowed the music star to take a break of about two minutes.
On the first day of Diddy's trial, the judge worked with dozens of potential jurors, questioning their experiences related to cheating, TD harassment or domestic violenc.e.
Jurors were also asked about how comfortable it was to watch videos or images that contained content about physical violenc.e, TD. In addition, these people must also disclose criminal records other than traffic violations.
Outside the courthouse, about 100 people, including reporters and many people, waited to watch because they were not allowed to attend. The music star's trial is expected to last at least 8 weeks. The selection of a jury of 12 official jurors and six alternate jurors is expected to take place until May 12, due to the complex nature of the case.
Federal prosecutors said they interviewed more than 50 people and collected evidence from 100 laptops, cell phones and other electronic devices. The investigation revealed that Combs was a serial abuser who led a vast criminal network that had been kept silent by aides, security guards, and other employees for years.
Diddy is accused of being involved in trafficking TD, organizing crime and transporting "flower sellers". The famous star has been refused bail many times even though he is willing to spend $50 million. Days before his trial, a list of 190 celebrities involved in the case was made available to jurors.
The list includes stars such as: Michael B. Jordan, Kanye West, Mike Myers, Kid Cudi, Michelle Williams (Destiny's Chil.d member), Dawn Richard, actress Lauren London and many family members of the "rap mogul".
Diddy's ex-girlfriend, singer Casandra "Cassie" Ventura, is expected to be a key figure in the trial. Last year, a surveillance video recorded in 2016 and published by CNN showed the rapper attackin.g Ventura at a hotel.
Diddy was arrested in New York (USA) from September 16, 2024. Since then, hundreds of people who claimed to be victims of male rappers, including men and women, have spoken out and filed a lawsuit in court. Many of them confirmed being abused by TD as a minor.
Last March, a fellow inmate shared about the life of the "hip-hop tycoon" in the Metropolitan Prison, Brooklyn (USA). According to this person, the famous star has a normal psychological expression, friendly with fellow prisoners. However, he is said not to communicate with too many people.
Diddy is held in a relatively flexible detention facility, where inmates can relax by playing air hockey and are served delicious meals compared to regular detention centers.
In February, Diddy's lawyer Anthony Ricco abruptly withdrew from the legal team. In a withdrawal application filed in a New York court, Anthony Ricco explained: "Under no circumstances can I continue to serve as defense attorney for Sean Combs (Diddy)." His case is considered one of the most influential criminal cases in the American entertainment industry in recent years.
