The dark side of the "music mogul" lifestyle
On September 16, Sean Combs was arrested in New York (USA) with a series of charges.
A 14-page indictment was presented to the court, which Diddy denied. The judge denied bail and granted the prosecutor's request to keep Combs in pretrial detention.
The famous star is being held in a prison, strictly controlled in case Diddy has negative thoughts.
According to US media, Sean Combs is suspected of luring many male and female stars to participate in multi-day performances in an inebriated state, called "Freak Offs". Diddy's actions are said to have taken place over a long period of time, since at least 2009.
Prosecutors said the singer used his business empire, including his record label Bad Boy Entertainment, to recruit prostitutes for his performances. But his defense attorney, Marc Agnifilo, said the activity was consensual.
The celebrity is said to have used secretly filmed videos as evidence, pressuring women to keep quiet and sometimes using it to intimidate witnesses.
In court, Sean Combs' defense attorney only admitted that the 54-year-old rapper had a history of drug use and toxic relationships, and said he was undergoing psychological therapy.
Additionally, Diddy's attorney attempted to explain why the rapper had 1,000 bottles of oil in his home after his arrest.
"I don't know where the 1,000 number comes from. I can't imagine there being thousands," attorney Marc Agnifilo told TMZ.
When the interviewer said the figure came from federal prosecutors' documents, Diddy's lawyer quickly said he wasn't sure what the baby oil had to do with it. "I'm guessing," he said, after being told that the oil was often used at parties. "I don't know what you'd need 1,000 bottles for. A bottle of oil lasts a long time."
The lawyer then argued that Diddy bought in bulk from the wholesaler because he "had a big house."
Marc Agnifilo was interviewed for TMZ's upcoming documentary The Downfall of Diddy: The Indictment, which premieres September 25. When it comes to Diddy's white parties called Freak Offs, the lawyer believes they were threesomes between the rapper, his ex-girlfriend, and another person, not gangbangs.
