News of director Bá Vọng's sudden passing at the age of 44 has left his colleagues in shock. His death has left a deep sense of loss in the art world and among those who were close to him and worked with him.
According to the obituary from his family, director Bá Vọng passed away on December 23rd in Ho Chi Minh City. His family is currently completing the procedures to bring him back to his hometown for burial according to the customs of the Cham people. The funeral is scheduled to take place at 6:00 AM on December 24th, in a solemn and sorrowful atmosphere.
According to his family, director Bá Vọng's health has been declining in recent years. He suffers from a severe herniated disc and has undergone surgery to replace discs in two parts of his spine. In addition, he has stage 3 kidney failure and requires daily medication. Despite this, Bá Vọng remains optimistic, continues to work, and hopes to soon return to the film set – his passion and purpose in life.
Actor Ngoc Tuong, who studied in the same class (Class VI) of Stage Directing at the Ho Chi Minh City College of Theatre and Film with Ba Vong, expressed his sorrow upon hearing the news of his old friend's passing. After graduation, Ba Vong shifted his focus to television and film, while Ngoc Tuong collaborated with him on several projects.
"You weren't well before, but recently you said you had recovered a lot and planned to make films again next year. I never expected you to pass away from a heart attack," Ngoc Tuong shared, his voice choked with emotion.
Many other artists also couldn't hide their shock. Actress Hoai An said she was shocked to hear the news of the sudden death of her close friend, the director. In her memory, Ba Vong was someone who always favored and trusted his colleagues, giving them roles and creating opportunities for them.
"I will always remember films like 'Stepfather ,' 'The Flower Village Beauty ,' 'The Zombie Family ,' and even the unfinished projects," Hoai An said emotionally.
Actor Le Nam also shared his grief over the passing of the director, born in 1981. He recalled the image of Ba Vong as a cheerful, optimistic man with a gentle smile whenever they talked. Le Nam expressed: "No one could have imagined that behind that zest for life was a body battling illness every day."
Director Bá Vọng, whose full name is Bá Trung Vọng, was born in 1981 in Phan Rang (Khánh Hòa province). He is of Cham ethnicity, possessing a distinct cultural identity, which is partly reflected in his artistic thinking and the way he tells stories of everyday life in a very relatable and authentic way. After graduating from the 6th class of Stage Directing at the Ho Chi Minh City College of Theatre and Film, he worked at Bách Việt Film Production Company and gradually established his name through numerous television projects.
Throughout his career, director Bá Vọng has left his mark with a series of works such as "Stepfather ," "Zombie Family," "The Beauty of the Flower Village ," "Descendants of Ông Năm Bảnh ," "Lotus Dream ," " The Curse of Age 17 , " "Legend of the Fox Fairy ," etc. His films often explore themes of family and social psychology, reflecting everyday life but rich in emotion, and are well-received by television viewers.
The sudden passing of director Bá Vọng is not only a great loss to his family, but also leaves a void that will be difficult to fill for his colleagues and those who loved the works he created.
