Comedian Bao Chung once spent like a giant, now he opens a broken rice shop to make a living

Brilliantly famous in the South in the early 2000s, comedian Bao Chung is not only loved by the audience but also owns a huge fortune, making many people admire and desire.

Comedian Bao Chung, real name Nguyen Van Lam, was born in 1955 in Ho Chi Minh City. HCM. At the age of 13, he decided to join the Dong Au Hoa Generation singing troupe to learn classical music. Initially, he only played a supporting role, he both sang and worked as a typewriter to have money to nurture his passion for art.

Bao Chung has changed the singing troupe many times, but his career is not very prosperous. Although he was assigned the main double role in the play Luc Van Tien when he returned to the Song Hau 3 troupe, he was still not noticed by the audience because his witty nature was not suitable for frontal and serious roles.

The turning point came in 1985, when he appeared in the play Cai Luong Wings of the Bird by author Thanh Kim Hue, directed by Thanh Dien. It was this role that helped him show his sense of humor and was warmly received by the audience. Also from here, he took the stage name Bao Chung, combined from the comedy style of Van Chung and Bao Quoc. Since then, he has focused on exploiting his strengths in comedy, gradually asserting his foothold on the stage.

From the late 1980s to the early 2000s, Bao Chung's career flourished. He was voted one of the ten most popular comedians in 1992, and won the Gold Medal of the Ho Chi Minh City Comedy Contest. Ho Chi Minh City in 1996.

Bao Chung's name is associated with the title of "the king of comedy in the 90s". He ran dozens of shows every night, the salary was so high that he was sometimes paid with a gold tree. Besides his brilliant career, he is also famous for his hobby of supercars, having owned more than 50 cars of all kinds. He even once brought 300 gold trees to buy a car, a huge number at that time.

When he was at his peak, in 2009, Bao Chung moved to the US to settle down. However, life away from his hometown was not as expected, he had many difficulties in maintaining his career. After 10 years, he decided to return to Vietnam to continue his career.

Although he has turned 70 years old, Bao Chung still persists in artistic activities. He regularly performs in many provinces and cities, participates in skits and produces online films. For him, the greatest joy is hearing the laughter and applause of the audience.

In parallel with acting, he and his young wife opened a broken rice shop in Long An and did an online coffee business. Thanks to the reputation and support of the audience, the trade is convenient, bringing a stable income. This helps him to both take care of his family and comfortably pursue his passion for art.

A successful career is like that, but the comedian's love path is not very smooth. He has experienced two broken marriages and has four stepchildren. Currently, he finds happiness with his wife who is 29 years younger – Ms. Dieu Tham, and the two have a 4-year-old son.

Although the age difference is quite large, the couple is still in tune in their view of life. The wife understands and sympathizes with her husband's work, becoming a solid rear for him to stand on stage with peace of mind.

Looking back on the past journey, Bao Chung said that he no longer expects anything. According to him, every day to work and live with the laughter of the audience is complete. "The more you do, the better", that's how he talks about his current life – an artist who is dedicated to his profession and cherishes every moment on stage.
