The cast of 'Handsome girl' after 12 years: A brilliant success, a tax evasion suspect

"You're Beautiful" - Vietnamese name "Handsome Girl" was one of the most popular K-Dramas of 2009 and it remains a fan favorite to this day.

This light-hearted comedy about the band ANJELL, brought many new fans to the world of K-Pop. It's been 12 years since "Handsome Girl" aired and here's what the main cast has achieved since then.

1. Park Shin Hye as Go Mi Nyeo and Go Mi Nam

Park Shin Hye plays Go Mi Nyeo, a girl who aspires to become a nun, but ends up disguised as her twin brother, Go Mi Nam, to help keep his place in the group ANJELL. Fans have loved Park Shin Hye for her charisma, as well as her "chemistry" with Jang Geun Suk.

"Handsome girl" has contributed to promoting Park Shin Hye's popularity, helping the beauty continue to star in more than a dozen dramas and movies over the past 12 years. Some of her most notable works are: The Heirs, Pinocchio, Love Notes, Doctors, Alhambra Memoirs... Park Shin Hye is now 31 years old and more successful than ever!

2. Jang Geun Suk as Hwang Tae Kyung

Jang Geun Suk plays the lead singer and guitarist of ANJELL, Hwang Tae Kyung. At first, he treats Go Mi Nam coldly, but over the course of their time together, the two become closer and eventually fall in love.

Like Park Shin Hye, Jang Geun Suk also got recognition from this drama. That same year, he took on a completely different role as the villain in the horror film "Itaewon Murder". He acted in 4 more dramas and 2 movies before taking a hiatus in 2015, due to a controversy surrounding tax evasion.

Jang Geun Suk was said to be innocent but he decided to focus more on his career abroad, until his return in 2016, as the host and mentor of "Produce 101" . He also returned to acting and has acted in 3 more films since then, including the most recent TV series "The Genius of Deception". He has yet to return after being discharged from the army in 2020.

3. Yonghwa (CNBLUE) as Kang Shin Woo

Yonghwa plays Kang Shin Woo, the bassist, rapper and keyboardist of ANJELL. Unlike Hwang Tae Kyung, Kang Shin Woo treated Go Mi Nam warmly and was the first to discover her female identity. He kept the secret to himself and watched her throughout the process.

"Handsome Girl" was Yonghwa's first role in which he was cast, right before CNBLUE's official debut. The male idol's acting has been warmly received. He has acted in several other popular dramas, including "Love Note" with Park Shin Hye. Yonghwa has completed his military service and took on the lead role in "Exorcism Real Estate".

4. Lee Hongki (FTISLAND) as Jeremy

Lee Hongki plays Jeremy - the main vocalist and drummer of ANJELL. Fans love his bright personality and tendency to be completely indifferent to what's going on around him. Jeremy falls in love with Go Mi Nam, despite not knowing his bandmate is actually a woman, which leads him to question his gender identity.

After "You're Beautiful" ended, Lee Hongki continued to act and promote with the group FTISLAND. Over the past 12 years, he has received several lead roles.

In June 2014, he founded his own fashion brand, Skullhong, which sells accessories, jewelry and various nail products. A year later, he made his solo debut with the mini-album "FM302". Lee Hongki recently completed his military service.
