Cosmic Girls: Kpop's girl group with constant efforts, full of scandals

Cosmic Girls, also known as WJSN (우주소녀), is a South Korean girl group formed by Starship Entertainment and Yuehua Entertainment. The group currently consists of ten members: Seola, Bona, EXY, Soobin, Luda, Dawon, Eunseo, Yeoreum, Dayoung, and Yeonjung. The group debuted on February 25, 2016 with their debut mini album "Would You Like?" and the title tracks "Mo Mo Mo" and "Catch Me".

On December 4, 2015, Starship Entertainment and Yuehua Entertainment announced the formation of a 12-member girl group called WJSN. The members were divided into different sub-units, each with their own style and theme. The first unit, Wonder Unit, was announced on December 10, 2015, consisting of members Cheng Xiao, Bona, and Dayoung. This was followed by Joy Unit with Xuanyi, Eunseo, and Yeoreum on December 17. The third unit, Sweet Unit, consisting of Seola, EXY, and Soobin, was announced on December 24. Finally, Natural Unit with Meiqi, Luda, and Dawon was announced on December 31.

The group officially debuted on February 25, 2016 with the mini album "Would You Like?" and the double title tracks "Mo Mo Mo" and "Catch Me". They had their debut performance on M Countdown on the same day.

In terms of members, the group includes Seola (Kim Hyun Jung): Seola is the group's main vocalist. She was born on December 24, 1994 and was a trainee for 10 years before debuting. Bona (Kim Ji Yeon): Bona is one of the prominent members as the main dancer and sub-vocalist. She was born on August 19, 1995. EXY (Chu So Jung): EXY is the group's leader and main rapper. She was born on November 6, 1995 and participated in the show "Unpretty Rapstar".

Soobin (Park Soo Bin): Soobin is the main vocalist and was born on September 14, 1996. Luda (Lee Lu Da): Luda is the sub-vocalist and was born on March 6, 1997. Dawon (Nam Da Won): Dawon is the main vocalist and was born on April 16, 1997. Eunseo (Son Ju Yeon): Eunseo is the main dancer and sub-vocalist, was born on May 27, 1998.

Yeoreum (Lee Jin Suk): Yeoreum is the main dancer and sub-vocalist, born on January 10, 1999. Dayoung (Lim Da Young): Dayoung is the sub-vocalist and was born on May 14, 1999. Yeonjung (Yoo Yeon Jung): Yeonjung is the main vocalist and was born on August 3, 1999. She joined the group in July 2016 after participating in the show "Produce 101".

The group originally had 13 members, but on March 3, 2023, members Xuanyi, Cheng Xiao, and Meiqi left the group after their contracts with the company expired. Cosmic Girls has released many successful albums and singles since their debut. Some notable albums include "The Secret" (2016), "Dream Your Dream" (2018), and "Unnatural" (2021). The group has also appeared on many television shows and performed major concerts.

In 2018, Cosmic Girls won the "Best Female Performance" award at the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA). They have also won many other awards at major music awards ceremonies such as the Seoul Music Awards and the Golden Disc Awards.

Cosmic Girls has several sub-units, each with their own style and theme: WJSN Chocome: This unit consists of members Soobin, Luda, Yeoreum, and Dayoung. They debuted in 2020 with the song "Hmph!". WJSN The Black: This unit consists of members EXY, Seola, Bona, and Eunseo. They debuted in 2021 with the song "Easy".

Meng Meiqi debuted with Cosmic Girls on February 25, 2016 with the mini album "Would You Like?". She is a member of the group's Natural Unit. In 2018, she participated in the show "Produce 101 China" and won first place, becoming the "center" of Rocket Girls 101.
