Hollywood Shocked: Godfather Actor Passes Away, Leaving Behind His Wife of 25 Years

On August 19, Variety reported that John Aprea passed away at his home in Los Angeles (USA) due to natural causes. This information was confirmed to the media by Will Levine, Aprea's manager.

The veteran actor passed away, leaving behind his wife of more than 25 years, Betsy Graci, his daughter Nicole, and his stepchildren, Marika Parker and Valentino Graci. In addition to the funeral, another ceremony will be held to honor his life.

John Aprea was born in 1941 to an Italian immigrant family in Englewood, USA. He began acting in the 1960s and is known for his roles in the television series Mannix, The Grasshopper and Caged Heat.

Aprea's career took off when he was cast as young Tessio in Francis Ford Coppola's Godfather Part II. Before taking on the role, he reached out to Abe Vigoda, who played the adult version of the character in the original, for advice. Vigoda later told Aprea, "I don't know what I've done. Just have fun, kid." The phrase "have fun" would become Aprea's guiding principle throughout his career.

After a starring role in the 1975 television comedy series The Montefuscos (about an Italian-American family's weekly Sunday dinners in Connecticut), Aprea took on the lead role in Taylor Hackford's directorial debut, The Idolmaker.

According to Variety, the actor also made his mark as Jesse's father in Full House, and he recently reprised the role in the Netflix reboot. In his later years, he continued to work tirelessly.

Previously in 2022, co-star James Caan also passed away at the age of 82. The family updated the information on social media on July 7, 2022: "It is with great sadness that we have to inform you that Jimmy (James Caan's nickname) passed away on the evening of July 6. The family is very grateful for your love and condolences. We ask that everyone respect their privacy during this difficult time" - James Caan's family representative wrote. The cause of the veteran actor's death has not been announced.

James Caan's manager wrote: "Jimmy was one of the greats. Not only was he one of the finest actors I have ever seen, he was also funny, loyal, caring, and loved by everyone. We were always friends before business. I will miss him very much and am proud to have worked together over the years."

Filmmaker James Gunn wrote: "Rest in peace James Caan! I loved so many of his films, 'The Godfather' being the top of the list but there were many others I loved." Director Francis Ford Coppola said James Caan will never be forgotten on screen or off because of his talent and personality.

James Caan was born in 1940 in the Bronx, New York, USA. He was the son of a Jewish immigrant from Germany. He was passionate about acting and began his career with stage plays. He then took on small roles on television and gradually gained attention from the audience.

He was invited to participate in many other roles and is famous for his role in the movie "The Godfather". In a career spanning over 50 years, he participated in nearly 100 roles in both movies and television.
