Singer Britney Spears has just made the latest moves after the incident of being assaulted by a bodyguard of basketball player Victor Wembanyama. Accordingly, the female idol affirmed that "no woman deserves to be beaten!".
According to TMZ, on the evening of July 5, pop star Britney Spears was slapped in the face by a bodyguard of basketball player Victor Wembanyama.
The incident happened at a restaurant in Las Vegas (USA), when Britney Spears and basketball player Victor Wembanyama met by chance. The female singer took the initiative to congratulate the male player for his recent excellent achievement. However, the "pop princess" was suddenly hit in the face by a male player's bodyguard.
Regarding the unfortunate incident, Britney Spears recently responded to a radio station for providing incorrect information about her. In particular, a news report said she "deserves to be beaten" and denied the attack was because the security staff was "doing their job and protecting their customers". It was this comment that prompted Britney to share her own experience of fame
"I've been with the most famous people in the world"; "On my way here, I was knocked over by three 12-year-olds trying to take a picture of me. My guards, not once, touched them or even approached them," Britney said.
The 41-year-old singer also said she "didn't appreciate" people who said she "deserves to be beaten because no woman deserves to be beaten". In the video shared above, Britney did not name the radio station or presenter who made the comments.
Earlier, according to the sharing from Britney Spears, the singer described the incident as a 'painful experience'. It is known that when receiving a "slap" in the face, the female singer almost fell to the ground.
After 1 day of the incident, the male basketball player also officially spoke: During the incident, the bodyguard noticed that someone approached him from behind, so he reacted quickly. Victor Wembanyama's side also confirmed that his bodyguard only used his hand to push, but did not hit Britney Spears in the face.
According to ESP, the young player also added that he did not know the person trying to approach him was Britney Spears because many fans called his name when at the restaurant. The basketball player said he was "grabbed from behind" by someone, not knowing what happened because he kept walking straight and didn't stop. "All I know is that the bodyguards pushed them away," the athlete said.
On her personal page on July 6 , Britney also recounted the row at the restaurant: "It was noisy around so I tapped him on the shoulder to get attention. He said I grabbed him from behind but I just just touched him on the shoulder. Victor's bodyguard then slapped me in the face without looking back, right in front of the crowd. The slap almost knocked me over and caused my glasses to fall off."
Britney also shared: she understands what it is like to be surrounded by people all the time, but emphasizes that she has never used violence. The pop star said that that evening a group of about 20 people surrounded her, but the bodyguards "didn't hit any of them". Britney said she felt the incident was "deeply embarrassing", urging "public figures to set an example and respect everyone".
Since the incident, the singer confirmed that she has not received a public apology from Victor Wembanyama, the player's bodyguard or their organization. The singer also thanked fans and the Las Vegas Sheriff's Office for helping her after this unexpected incident.
However, Britney believes that she does not need to be overly protected in the way that fans are doing. The female singer shared that she just wanted to rest in peace. "I hope the public and fans are extremely concerned about me, please respect my privacy during this time. Sending all love. Love to everyone, Britney," she expressed.
Britney's husband later also voiced that the bodyguard had "lost control". He expressed disappointment when neither Victor Wembanyama nor security staff apologized to his wife after the incident. "I can't imagine a scenario where an unarmed woman, showing excitement to her idol, is assaulted by security personnel," Sam Asghari shared.
