Pu's father in "Walking in the Bright Sky" revealed his admirable nature and lifestyle, suffering with the film crew

The movie "Di giua troi ruc ro" is causing a stir on the internet. Besides the main male and female couple Pu and Chai, the character of Mr. Xuon - Pu's father is also of interest to Vietnamese netizens. The actor who plays this role is artist Minh Hai, who has an admirable lifestyle.

A character who appears quite a lot in the first part of the film is Mr. Xuon - Pu's father. Mr. Xuon is a doctor but is addicted to alcohol, in debt, and has a sense of pride. He is the one who "many times" wants to marry Pu to Chai to clear his debt. In some episodes, Mr. Xuon even prevents his daughter from going to the lowlands to study, making the audience angry. While Meritorious Artist Hoang Hai (as Mr. Chieu, Chai's father) is quite familiar to everyone, Mr. Xuon is not remembered much by the audience.

Few people know that the actor who plays Mr. Xuon in the film is artist Minh Hai - an actor of the Vietnam Drama Theater. After more than 20 years of acting, in the past 15 years, artist Minh Hai has been mentioned more often for his impressive portrayal of President Ho Chi Minh.

Regarding the opportunity to participate in the film "Di giua troi ruc ro", artist Minh Hai said that at the end of April 2024, the film crew contacted him to invite him to join the project, and he accepted immediately. This is the longest-running TV series he has participated in.

"When I was in this movie, I didn't feel pressured because I had been professionally trained so I could play any role. My role was an alcoholic who often cursed at people, but deep inside he was a man who loved his wife and children very much.

I found that my appearance was quite similar to that of the Dao ethnic group. One afternoon, I was lying down on the set when a local came in and asked, "Can you lend me a pot?" I said I was on a film crew, and several people on the crew laughed. Maybe my appearance resembled that of a highland ethnic group, so the locals mistook me for someone else," artist Minh Hai recounted.

The male artist said that the film crew had to stay in Nguyen Binh district (Cao Bang) for a long time. They had time to get close to and talk to the people there. But during that time, Minh Hai had to try 200%, had to arrange time for work in Hanoi to avoid overlap.

Minh Hai said: "That time was very tiring because I was rehearsing for the plays White Night and Black Panther Squad at the Vietnam Drama Theater. After rehearsing, I would "sneak" 2-3 days to go to Cao Bang to film, then return to Hanoi to rehearse.

What's more difficult is that there are not always buses to Nguyen Binh. There are only a few buses that go at fixed times each day, so I decided to make films because of my passion. I was willing to give up all my salary to travel between the two places to keep up with the schedule. After rehearsing at the theater, I booked a 3 million VND bus to Cao Bang and vice versa. There were days when I finished filming, at 1am I got on the bus back to Hanoi to be on time for 9am rehearsal with my teammates."

When playing the role of Xuon in the film, Minh Hai grew a beard and hair to create the character without the need for makeup. He also discussed with director Do Thanh Son how to make the lines between Mr. Chieu and Mr. Xuon have a sense of humor but are "on par" because the two fathers have played together since childhood and are on equal footing.

"In the film, there are scenes where Mr. Xuon "ahem" his co-star that I came up with myself to make the film more realistic, with highlights that attract the audience's attention. Director Do Thanh Son is a perfectionist so he is very careful when filming, especially he also inspires the actors in difficult scenes...", the male artist shared.

Minh Hai said that after the first episodes of the show were aired, when he went out with his daughter, the audience recognized him and asked him questions. Many people called him "Pu's father", "Xuon's father"...

He shared that the young actors in the film such as Thu Ha Ceri, Long Vu... have very good acting. "Vu is from a family of actors so he acts very charmingly, and Thu Ha tries very hard and is willing to learn. In some scenes, I also give Ha advice to act better," Minh Hai said.
