In recent days, the news that Prince William and Princess Kate are at odds over who will give birth to their eldest son has attracted much public attention. In addition, many people have noticed another reason for the discord between the prince and his wife.
A charming joke made by the Prince of Wales about his wifeâs cooking skills has recently been making the rounds on social media, sparking excitement. The anecdote was made at a charity dinner in 2016 and was shared again when the couple appeared on a TV show with chef Mary Berry.
At a fundraising event for East Anglia's Children's Hospices (sponsored by Princess Kate since 2012), when asked about dinner, Princess Kate humorously shared that Prince William was looking forward to "resting" after the meals she cooked. She said: "William has to endure my cooking most of the time." Immediately, Prince William replied: "That's why I'm so skinny!". The charming joke added warmth to the event's atmosphere.
This isn't the first time the pair have openly joked about cooking. In 2019, they competed in a Christmas roulade baking competition alongside chef Mary Berry and Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain on BBC1's A Berry Royal Christmas. Prince William jokingly declared: "I've made hundreds of roulades. I'm going to write a book and it's going to be a bestseller!"
Also on the show, Princess Kate revealed that while studying at St Andrews University, Prince William worked hard to impress her by cooking: "He was very good at cooking breakfast. He used to cook all sorts of things like Bolognese sauce, and things like that."
Another situation also made the audience laugh: when chef Mary Berry asked Princess Kate if she wanted to "spray frosting on the cupcake", both husband and wife could not hide their laughter.
In March 2025, on Mary Berry's 90th birthday, Prince William sent a surprise congratulatory message via BBC's The One Show. In the video, he shared: "Wishing you a very happy 90th birthday. You are a true national treasure and we have loved working with you over the years." He also joked: "I can't imagine who will make your birthday cake or how you will judge them, but good luck!"
Since the beginning of this year, the Prince and Princess of Wales have been actively searching for the next school for their eldest son. They are said to have visited a number of famous schools in London and the surrounding areas.
In January, Kate was spotted giving George a tour of her old school, Marlborough College, in Wiltshire, southwest England, where Kate's younger siblings, Pippa and James, spent much of their teenage years.
According to Daily Mail reporter Richard Eden, Kate also loved Highgate School in London. She was attracted by the "world-class" drama department it had. However, the distance between her home in Windsor and the school in London was a major obstacle.
Unlike his wife, Prince William has made Eton College his number one priority. It has long been a popular choice for royals, politicians and aristocrats, with tuition fees of $82,000 a year. Both the Prince of Wales and his younger brother, Prince Harry, attended the school. However, their experiences were different.
While William is said to have enjoyed his time at Eton, Harry recounted a completely different experience in his memoir Spare (2023). Harry admitted that he struggled at school due to poor grades, which led him to drop out of university and go straight to the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
Unlike Kateâs favourite schools (which admit both boys and girls), Eton is exclusively for boys. On the other hand, Eton scores highly on distance. It is a short walk from the Welsh familyâs home, Adelaide Cottage, in Windsor Home Park. All three of the Welsh familyâs children currently attend Lambrook.
A source told the Daily Mail that their differences in parenting views have left William and Kate in a "dilemma". After months of thinking, they still cannot make the most reasonable choice for their son.
Meghan and Harry have a change, the saying "queen" comes true, the British royal family is shaken? Moon16:45:31 10/04/2025The Royal Exclusive Show (The Sun) discusses Harry's resignation at Sentebale, the organization he co-founded. Journalists Phil Dampier and Matt Wilkinson analyze the implications, questioning the relationship between Harry and the charity.
