According to Forbes , several investors filed lawsuits, accusing Cristiano Ronaldo of participating in and assisting Binance in selling unregistered securities despite knowing the risks. The Portuguese superstar regularly promotes Binance and NFT collections on his profile that has more than 840 million followers. With the reputation of the world's top sports star, Ronaldo is said to help Binance earn millions of investors.
According to Cointelegraph, Ronaldo started working with Binance in mid-2022. In November 2022, CR7 launched its first personal NFT collection in an exclusive multi-year partnership. The complaint says the collection leads users to many other Binance purposes.
"Ronaldo's promotions have assisted Binance in attracting users to invest in unregistered securities. They encourage millions of CR7 followers, fans, and supporters to participate in the platform," the plaintiff stated.
Not stopping there, Ronaldo was also accused of abetting fraudulent acts, converting illegal cryptocurrencies of Binance. The superstar born in 1985 remained silent and did not delete posts about the cryptocurrency exchange.
Previously, Binance was investigated for a series of violations of articles in the US Commodity Exchange Act. On November 22, Changpeng Zhao, the founder of Binance, admitted to money laundering charges and had to step down as CEO of this virtual currency exchange. Binance was also found guilty of violating the Bank Secrecy Act and ordered to pay $4 billion in damages.

Changpeng Zhao, founder of Binance, commented: "Cryptocurrencies will change the sports economy." Below the post, he attached an image of the Portuguese football star.
Meanwhile, regarding Binance, on November 28, the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission announced to block access to the exchange's services and advised users to withdraw money from the exchange.
Reuters reported that Philippine authorities also asked Google and Meta to ban online advertising for Binance there. Those involved in advertising could face up to 21 years in prison.
