In the retirement industry, age is a sensitive topic. Sometimes it significantly affects the career of art participants. In fact, many A-list film and TV actors have lied about their age to get roles.

Despite having appeared in many movies and TV shows before, Mila Kunis had to lie about her age to get the role of Jackie Burkhart on the iconic sitcom That '70s Show. While on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 2012, the chatter asked her how old she was when she was on That '70s Show. Kunis replied: "Legally, I was 14 years old. However, I told the producer that I was almost 18 years old."

Although Sandra Bullock acted in three other films before the release of Love Potion No. 9 in 1992, this is still a movie where she had to lie to her age to get the role. Revealing to showrunner Barbara Walters, Sandra Bullock said the people behind the romantic comedy Love Potion No. 9 were looking for a 29-year-old actress to play biologist Diane Farrow. Apocalypse Now is considered one of the greatest movies of all time, so it's no wonder Laurence Fishburne lied about his age to get a supporting role in the movie. In the cult classic 1989 film Troop Beverly Hills, Carla Gugino had to lie about her age to get a role in the film. Gugino said, "I was 16 but lied that I was 14 to get the role. I told the director when the film had gone far enough and I knew they couldn't fire me. The director then said he would never have hired me, if I had known I was 16."

Whoopi Goldberg had to lie about her age long before becoming one of the few performers to win an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony Award. The Renaissance woman told The Washington Post in 1986 that she "chuckled about the secrets contained in her California driver's license," which included her actual age of 30, instead of the publicly publicized age of 35 she used to apply for a job.

Jessica Chastain has acted in several hit movies throughout her career such as Zero Dark Thirty and Interstellar, however she will not reveal her real age to the public. As Chastain explained to The Independent in 2013, she was said to be 35 at the time: "I would never say my age because I'm an actress and I want to play roles of different ages." This view of Chastain is supported by many because Hollywood has a long history of ageism that is still controversial to this day.

In addition to hiding their age, many Hollywood stars are 'slick enough' to get roles.
